About RAM Mount Systems.
What is a RAM Mounting System?
The RAM (short for Round-A-Mount) Mounting System is a simple yet VERY effective mounting solution. Originating from a patented interchangeable rubber ball and
socket design, the RAM mount is untouchable by the competition with it's ease of use, holding strength, vibration protection and durability - not to mention the
LIFE TIME MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY!
Over the past decade, RAM has evolved into one of the most universal mounting systems on the market. Not only can the RAM Mounting system hold your electronic
devices, GPS receivers, laptop computer, flat screen monitors, PDA's, cell phones, marine electronics, cameras, scanner guns and much, much more, they can also
mount them in just about any location including an aircraft, automobile, boat, ATV, truck, 4x4, van, car, snowmobile, farming vehicle, motorcycle, fork lift or
any other situation.
With the interchangeable ball and socket system, you can remove one ball part from the arm socket connection and replace it with another useful part. So when
required, you can replace the Motorcycle Rail Mount base with a Suction Cup base for the car which can then be changed for the Yoke Mount base for your airplane
that can then be replaced with the Marine Dash Base. (and this is just the beginning)
Whatever your use, there is a RAM Mount for you.
Understanding the RAM Rubber Ball and Socket System
The Rubber Ball and Socket System is what makes RAM the most versatile and strongest mounting system on the market.
The RAM solid rubber balls are injection molded directly
onto a marine grade aluminum or plastic post (figure 1). Tightening a RAM socket around the round rubber ball causes the rubber to
displace slightly so the ball is not perfectly round. This process gives the ball and socket system it's connection strength. When
the socket is released, the ball will return to the original shape allowing you to move the ball to a new position in the socket and
repeat the process again.
All of the RAM socket arms have a side tightening knob that allows you to screw the socket closed with just a couple turns of the knob.
The ball and socket system is so affective that you can tighten the ball connection with minimal effort.
RAM Mount Weight Capacity
To accommodate many different weights for many different situations, RAM designed four different ball and socket sizes:
* Please note that the maximum weight is to be used as a guide. Different situations, like vibration and cantilever length, will effect these numbers
RAM Mount Connection Types
Not all of the RAM Mount Components consist of the RAM Ball and Socket system. Other connection methods for the RAM parts include:
RAM Plastic Octagon Button and Socket System
RAM Plastic Snap Link Ball and Socket System
RAM Bolted Swing Arm System
RAM Pedestal Pipe Swing Arm System
RAM Pedestal Base Connection
RAM Pedestal Pivot Connection
RAM Swing Arm Pivot Connection
and many more....
