Rob Edmonton Apr 17, 2012	DISAPPOINTING FOR ACTIVE NAVIGATION Pros: good detail of trails frequent user updates Cons: frequent incorrect nav instructions expensive Beware that Backroads maps' usefulness is limited for turn-by-turn navigation. Major highways are often called out with incorrect, meaningless numbers (voice and on screen), city streets are often called "ramps", and highway overpasses are hopelessly (or dangerously) mis-routed (Montana 600). This is disappointing because the gps maps themselves are quite accurate and display the proper names/numbers. Turn-by-turn nav is not what this product is really for I know but for the price of it I expected better. It is also advertised to have "routable rural and city streets". It seems like an immature product in this regard. Use City Navigator to get to the trails and then switch to Backroads once the city maps peter out I guess. The detail of small roads and trails does look promising and I will be testing this soon. [Ed. note: The Backroad GPS maps are great for hiking and other outdoor activities. Street driving will not be as good as the software made for that use. If you require turn by turn navigation check out Garmin City Navigator NT.] Recommend? NO OPINION 4 viewers found this helpful.
