Traffic is a must-have feature, if your area is covered. As of March 2009 four cities in Canada have coverage. They are Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Vancouver. If your area is not currently covered, you should periodically check the Total Traffic Network site for changes. Here is a quick run down on the system. The traffic data is broadcasted using the FM spectrum operated by Clear Channel partners. The data collected and then up-loaded to the TMC-FM network is collected by INRIX, a leading traffic data supplier. You can view traffic information collected by INRIX by visiting http://maps.live.com/, and then click on Traffic, located at the top of the map. Zoom into one of the available areas to see the various traffic slow downs. Some GPS Navigators come with the FM traffic reciever, for others it is an add-on. Check the GPSCity product pages for more information.
