 Topo Canada with DEM data has been anticipated for a couple years now,
ever since Garmin announced Topo USA on DVD with DEM data. The new maps
will contain the 2D NTS topo data everyone is used to but with the
addition of 3D DEM data. DEM (digital elevation model) data gives a 3D
look to the popular Garmin mapping by adding shaded elevation data to
the maps. Not all GPS units take
advantage of the DEM data but if you have a newer Nuvi, Oregon or
Colorado GPS then you are in luck. Even if your GPS cannot display the
shaded relief data (DEM) you can utilize the info on your PC when you
analyze your track and waypoint information. Special Features;
- Topographic coverage of Canada, 1:50,000 scale for most areas and 1:250,000 in others
- Built in DEM and 3D shaded terrain data
- Trails and routable roads across Canada
- Point of Interest Data
- Searchable Database of cities, geographic names, summits, lakes, parks, and much more
- National, regional and local parks, forests and wilderness area info
- BaseCamp on DVD only for data management and trip planning via your PC
