Garmin and Mac - Like Ebony and Ivory

Buzz Article: Garmin and Mac - Like Ebony and Ivory

With the Apple line of computers increasing in popularity because of their ease of use and reliability, Garmin now has Mac support in almost all their products.

Here are a few Apple Mac programs from Garmin that you can use to display collected GPS data and transfer maps and points to your GPS.

  • BaseCamp - This software replaces Garmin MapSource for transferring data to and from your Mac or PC. The benifit to Base Camp is the 3D functionality with 3D compatible mapping. You can choose to view the maps in 3D, 2D or a combination of the two.
  • RoadTrip - Plan and manage your road trips, whether they are treks around town or across the country, and send them to your Garmin GPS.
  • Garmin ANT Agent - Is used for wirelessley transferring fitness data from Garmin fitness GPS units, to your PC.
  • Garmin Map Install - This software works in conjunction with BaseCamp to send your mapping to the GPS.
  • Garmin POI Loader - This software is used for transferring external points of interest from Garmin's website.
  • Garmin Training Center - Analyze and store workout data from your Garmin device on your computer, as well as plan and save future workouts.
  • Webupdater - Keep your GPS bug free and feature rich with Garmin's webupdater. Webupdater downloads the latest firmware update, also known as the Operating System, for your GPS and installs it.
