Garmin recently distributed a memo regarding inaccuracies in their marine software. This voluntary service announcement is targeted at the Marine GPS community, specifically those along the United States' Oregon coast. The marine cartography of this area contains incorrect tidal information for an area off the Oregon coast, covering approximately 100 miles of shoreline. The tidal points affected are; Bandon, Empire, Coos Bay, Umpqua River Entrance, Gardiner, Reedsport, Siuslaw River Entrance, Florence, Waldport and Drift Creek. The Charleston point is not affected. For the time being Garmin's recommendation to customers is that they use alternate means to identify tide conditions. Corrected data will be available in the first quarter of 2010. Affected customers may email Garmin at cartography@garmin.com for information concerning replacement map data. Here is a list of the affected products: Bluechart CD-ROM (v8.0,v8.5,v9.0,v9.5,v2008.0,v2008.5) - Region US022 Bluechart data card (v8.0,v8.5,v9.0,v9.5,v2008.0,v2008.5) - Regions US022, US056, and US516 Inland Lakes/Vision DVD's and preloaded cards (v2,v3,2008,2009)
