GPS can be found in many of our every day handheld devices, with the next big wave including cameras. ASSIST Creative Resources announced their GPS enabled HD video camera, Gobandit at the ISPO 10 show this past week. This compact camera doubles as a geolocation device, allowing adventurers to log their trips via GPS and video.
While the picture quality isn't superior, the light and rugged design is great for outdoors enthusiasts. The Gobandit offers a recording resolution of 720p at 30 fps, while the GPS tracks your location over time. To see video examples watch their clip on gobandit GPS HD Action Camera from gobandit on Vimeo. The
video playback overlays the GPS route on a highly visible map, and shows the speed of
the user in the video. The camera mounting options include helmet, handlebar and chest, or it could be handheld. If the GPS feature isn't a priority but you've been looking for a tough, portable camera... check out the GoPro series. Their HD helmet and motorsports versions can record at up to 1080p quality and can handle being tossed around. Check out the many user videos on Youtube, from dirt bikers, surfers, sky divers and much more!
