Tracking options are rapidly growing in popularity with company owners. Whether monitoring employee locations or keeping tabs on their company vehicles, tracking solutions are readily available.
Natural Insights, a company out of Sterling, Va., has come up with an iPhone App called "GPS Check-In". This program uses the phones internal GPS antenna to communicate the employees current location. When the App is running the employee presses the icon for "Check-In", this sends real-time data directly to the employer. This verifies that the worker is indeed in the right place at the right time. It also confirms for the employee via a green or yellow light, whether they are were they are supposed to be.
There are many other tracking options available, for those not using iPhones or other smartphones. Escort has their Entourage series, the PS and CIS models which are designed to be installed in a vehicle to monitor locations on and off the clock. This is great for containers full of equipment, work vehicles that are not to be used off hours, and monitoring fleets during work hours. The data from the Entourage units can be accessed from any internet-connected computer, through the Escort website.
