Garmin's new handheld marine GPS, the GPSMAP 78 line - the GPSMAP 78, 78s and 78sc include all the current favorites, as well as some new amazing features. A similar series to the tried and true GPSMAP 76 line, these units are rugged, waterproof and float.
Some of the new options are 1.7 GB of internal memory plus expandability with microSD cards for additional mapping and data storage. Wireless sharing between the 78s/78sc allow instantaneous transfer of thumbnails, routes, tracks, waypoints and geocaches. Preloaded US coastal charts on the 78sc provide detailed navigation info on the go, and the 3-axis compass on the 78s/78sc ensures accurate headings at all times.
The entire line-up accepts Garmin's new Custom Maps and BirdsEye Satellite Imagery. Custom Maps is free and easy transformation of paper and electronic maps to Garmin-friendly data, to be downloaded onto your compatible Garmin device. BirdsEye Satellite Imagery is a subscription-based service that allows users to view aerial views of their destinations.
