A new intelligent navigation device is ready for the Canadian GPS market. The well known Garmin Nuvi 1690 now has a Canadian counterpart. After a few minor delays the Canadian version is now available. It will share the same name as the US version but will be supported by the Rogers cellular network. In the USA the network they are handled by AT&T.
The Intelligence comes from Garmin's nuLink! Services. This feature receives accurate real-time information
about the area you're traveling in delivered wirelessly to your nuvi
1690. In Canada, each nuvi 1690 includes a 1-year subscription free that allows access to local searches via Google, using keywords to find local POIs online. In select areas traffic alerts can be sent directly to your GPS, this aids in the GPS routes to avoid delays and road construction along your route. Additionally, these other convenient services are also
included in the subscription: Ciao! friend finder, weather, fuel prices, movie times,
local events, flight status, converter, and
myGarmin. A subscription to US nuLink! service is available as well,
for those frequently crossing the border. To preorder yours now or to obtain more information about the subscription services please visit GPS City.ca. |
