TomTom has long been known as a low-cost, portable, in-vehicle navigation option and will add in-dash units to their repertoire. In a collaboration with Subaru, TomTom is providing in-dash solutions for the 2011 Forester and Imprezza models. TomTom gave Subaru full control of designing the cradle, power supply and audio connections while all navigation development was kept with TomTom. Customers will benefit two-fold with this arrangement: superior navigation with a stunning sleek design, and a much lower cost than typical in-dash GPS sytems. The integrated system is based on the popular TomTom Go 720 platform, which is considered an older model. Many of the included features on the in-dash model are still available on current TomTom models. The 4.3" touch screen and bluetooth connectivity are two such features and are still in high demand. So while it's not the latest and greatest, the older Go 720 and newer Go 2405 units share basic functionality. |
