Following the popularity of larger screens within the GPS world, Garmin International, Inc. recently released another large 5" touch screen navigation system. The nuvi 2400 series offers 8 upgraded features to replace the older 1400 series. The nuvi 2400 series includes the nuvi 2450 and the nuvi 2460. Both of these products offer Door-to-Door navigation for the most accurate arrival times, ten times more storage for popular routes, a powered mount and a speed limit indicator for major U.S. roads. Specifically for Canadian users, the PhotoReal junction view provides the user with realistic views of the road ahead. In addition, myTrends and trafficTrends predicts routes based on user's previous navigation and traffic flow respectively. While they have many similarities, there is a major difference between the 2450 and 2460. The nuvi 2460 uses a handsfree, spoken command for inputing directions. With voice-activated navigation, drivers are able to focus on their driving and simply speak their directions instead of entering them on the touch screen. The voice-activation feature gives the nuvi 2460 an advantage in the safety department. |
