Mariners, fishing enthusiasts and outdoor lovers alike found exactly what they were looking for at this year's Calgary Boat & Sportsmen's Show. Encompassing two huge halls in the BMO Center on the Stampede Grounds, attendees were introduced to the sleek and shiny future of outdoor gear. New products ranged from entry-level inflatable canoes and rafts to the Zodiac trolling motor watercraft. In one of the most intriguing displays, Mercury introduced their MerCrusier Axius joystick control system, a new take on the standard dual-prop docking. Axius lets the user maneuver into a spot with a joystick, making entry at any angle possible. This new feature was showcased on the Regal 38 Express Motoryacht, along with Garmin's GPSMAP 5212 chartplotter, VHF 100 radio and closed-ray HD radar. When choosing a boat, technical specs are a major factor especially if you want to use tow behind toys! Although wakeboards, tubes and waterskis are still the staples, some new inflatables hit the scene at this year's show. The Hurler, aka Barf Ball, was creating a lot of chatter at the O'Brien display, with the consensus confirming the name says it all!
