 DeLorme, an innovative GPS manufacturer headquartered in Maine, has announced an update to the mapping on their PN-Series GPS units and GIS XMap software users. The new topographic World Base Map is available for download, costing only a penny per 100 square km. A minimum download of $10 worth of maps is required, but at that price the coverage area is sure to be massive! Promoters of this software include the US government and oil and gas exploration companies. Also, many geospatial industry consumers, including ESRI, support the seamless and horizontally accurate mapping by DeLorme. Downloads are available for previewing and purchase through the DeLorme public data Web portal.
