RoadsideAmerica is now offering a travel guide appropriately named 'Attractions and Oddities'. Known for being an online tourist guide that strays away from the standard tourist hot spots, RoadsideAmerica is capitalizing on the rising market of off the beaten path travel. The new app provides general information, specifically directions, hours, location and contact details, for thousands of places considered to be off the beaten path. A convenient feature is the inclusion of location photos so users have an idea of what sights to expect. Doug Kirby, the publisher and editor of RoadsideAmerica, explains, "A dedicated GPS system is great for providing precise routing advice and directions. Attractions and Oddities makes it easy to take a spontaneous side trip to the bizarre, just by hitting 'Go' to a nearby place listed on your GPS system. And from there, pick another crazy sight...a giant beetle statue leads to a huge rocking chair, which leads to an alligator farm, and by sunset you're standing on a UFO watchtower wondering what happened to your day." Currently, the "Attractions and Oddities" app is only available on Garmin GPS units. However, beginning next month, this travel guide can be used with TomTom GPS devices. Image source. |
