Today's Friday Feature introduces Danny, a runner training for his first marathon. Knowing a marathon takes months of training and preparation, Danny wanted to buy a sport watch with a GPS to help him train. Danny explains, "I did some investigating and decided to buy the Garmin Forerunner 405 - this watch tells you anything you want to know about your run's speed, pace, heart rate info, track your run and show it in Google. I absolutely fell in love with it and after I finish a workout, [whether] it is a track run or trail run or an interval run, my first thought is let's get to a computer and checkout how I did." The running watch Danny chose, the Garmin Forerunner 405, is a GPS-enabled sport watch that tracks a runner's training and progress. The watch monitors time, distance, pace and calories before wirelessly sending the data to the runner's home computer. The Forerunner 405 acts as a personal trainer, storing each run so users can review and analyze their progress. "Running a marathon takes a lot of endurance, patience and self discipline. [When] planning your race, you'll usually decide with your trainer on a pace for the race. If you did your training and prepare your body with the right nutrition, keeping your pace will get you safe to the finish line. [An] experienced athlete knows how to keep pace without any "technical help," an amateur like me needs guidance and the Garmin 405 did the job and did it great," said Danny. After months of training Danny's hard work paid off, "[In] January, I did the Tiberius Marathon in Israel and finished it successfully after 03:58 min, the 405 was set to splits of 1KM letting me know every KM I pass the time it took and the average pace."
