Today, Garmin announced a new GPS product, the Montana. The Montana is a 4" touchscreen unit that brings rugged, outdoor GPS devices to the next level. The Garmin Montana comes in three different models: the Montana 600, Montana 650 and Montana 650t. The Montana 600 features a large, 4" sunlight readable touchscreen with worldwide built-in basemap. With a dual-orientation display, users can view the screen vertically or horizontally. Additionally, the high-sensitivity GPS receiver, 3-axis compass and barometric altimeter makes the Montana GPS ideal for the adventurous outdoorsman. Along with all the features included in the 600 model, the Montana 650 offers a 5-megapixel digital camera. The autofocus camera automatically geo-tags all pictures, allowing users to mark and remember the exact spot each picture was taken. To access the pictures at home, users can connect their Montana GPS to a computer via a USB cord. Lastly, the Montana 650t has all the features of the 600 and 650 models plus 100K US topographical maps. The preloaded topo maps share details of land elevation and contours with the user. Another major improvement with the Montana GPS is the increased internal memory. While other outdoor GPS units only have around 850MB, the Montana 600 and Montana 650 models offer 3.0GB of memory while the Montana 650t has 3.5GB. The Garmin Montana will be shipping in June but you can pre-order yours today at GPS City. |
