Following the announcements of the eTrex and Rino, Garmin announced the Astro 320 this morning. The Astro 320 is a redesigned handheld dog tracking unit, updated with hunters and hounds men in mind. The three biggest improvements to the handheld device are the 30% increased range, simplified user interface and enhanced mapping capabilities. The Astro 320 offers a 2.6" full color display that is highly detailed and sunlight readable. When tracking a dog, the device indicates a dog's distance and status with the option of displaying the direction the dog is moving. Users can now receive their status updates as vibration alerts. Additionally, the dog tracker is compatible with all DC series transmitters and accessories. The enhanced mapping also depicts nearby significant geographical features. Since the Astro 320 can track up to ten dogs at once, the receiver has an auto zoom map that allows users to watch all their dogs simultaneously. According to Garmin, the Astro 320 is expected in July 2011 for the United States. |
