Garmin just announced a contest to get more people involved with their caching website, OpenCaching. Similar to the well-known Geocaching, OpenCaching is a treasure-hunting game designed to bring people together and out into the world. The contest revolves around Opie, Garmin's OpenCaching mascot, and his treasure chest full of goodies. When the 100th, 1000th, 2000th, and 3,000th cache milestones are reached, OpenCaching members will be eligible to win prizes. The value of the prizes vary and all winners are randomly chosen. For every 100 newly created caches, a member will be awarded an OpenCaching starter kit. At the 1000th cache, Garmin will choose a lucky winner to receive a Garmin Dakota 20 GPS. With 2000 caches, a Garmin Oregon 450T GPS with US topo maps will be given away. After topping 3000 caches, OpenCaching will give away the coveted Garmin 62STC, a multifunctional GPS with a 5 megapixel camera and preloaded US topo maps. As an added bonus, Garmin will pick another 62stc winner for every additional 1000 caches logged after the 3000th cache milestone. Interested? Sign up at OpenCaching to be eligible for all prize drawings. The contest runs until the end of October. Good luck! |
