The 2012 boating season is on the minds of mariners everywhere, so Garmin's latest Montana announcement comes as no surprise. The Montana 600 GPS Marine Bundle will come preloaded with the BlueChart G2 charts for the continental US, offering coastal coverage and the Great Lakes south of the 49th Parallel. Garmin's marine mount, also included in the bundle, makes mounting a cinch. The 4" sunlight-readable Montana screen is incredible for viewing charts and other maps, especially when compared to other small screen GPS devices. Since the unit contains a barometer, users can monitor the weather, displaying pressure changes on one of the many customizable screens. Garmin offers an abundance of map data for all types of activity. Users can access detailed elevation contour lines, waterways, and park information with the topo maps. Topo maps are available for the US, Canada, and other countries worldwide. The BlueChart G2 and G2 Vision software lets users Navigate coastal and offshore waters with ease. Inland lakes and waterways are well covered by a variety of products including the Garmin Lakes and Lakes Vision, Inland Lakes Canada, or the new Midwest Fishing Guide for over 9,500 lakes throughout the Midwest US. Whether your boat offers an external battery source or not, the Montana uses AA batteries or the rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack. However, when hooked up with a wiring harness or cigarette lighter adapter, batteries will be bypassed and saved for when the unit is not plugged in. Vehicle navigation is available when using the Garmin City Navigator maps for travel in North America, Europe, Asia, South America, Africa and Australia/Oceania. When paired with the optional powered cradle with speaker, the Montana GPS will give turn-by-turn directions, similar to the popular nuvi automotive series. With all these great features, the Garmin Montana series is the ultimate in GPS crossovers, offering full features for boating, driving, ATVs, and hiking. |
