Garmin's Approach golf series now includes the G6, a compact GPS with an incredibly bright screen. Unlike previous generations, the Approach G6 comes with 25,000 preloaded worldwide courses (no subscription needed). Even though the unit doesn't need to be connected to a computer to add courses, it is recommended to download current firmware every few months to keep it running smoothly. The G6 also added two buttons to the golf GPS for instant access to important functions like the Green View, Shot Measure, and Digital
Scorecard. When playing with a
group of 2-4 players, the digital scorecard feature is helpful offering scoring
options for Stroke Play, Stableford, Skins, and Match Play, as well as
adjustable handicap settings. Along with the digital scorecard, an enhanced stat tracking feature
keeps track of fairway hits, greens in regulation, and putts per round.
Accessible on the green or at home on the computer, these stats can even
be downloaded and printed. The G6 is designed for those long days
of fun, sun, and camaraderie. The internal rechargeable battery lasts up
to 15 hours on a single charge. However, if the battery runs out, the GPS can be powered through a 12V cable
for use with powered carts. Additionally, Garmin has designed a universal
mount for the Approach G6 that can be used on your golf bag or on the golf cart. Whether or not your favorite pair of golf pants has
pockets, you'll have somewhere to put the highly anticipated new golf
companion. |
