 Garmin announced a new program just in time for the upcoming marine and boating season. The New Chart Guarantee program was created by the company to ensure mariners will have access to the most current charts for their GPS units. The New Chart Guarantee allows customers, who recently purchased a new preprogrammed BlueChart g2 or BlueChart g2 Vision microSD card, one free update. The update will only be for the specific region originally purchased. Customers have six months from the date of purchase to download the free update. Once updated, the BlueCharts will reflect the latest charts available. Along with this free update program, Garmin will offer a discount program for mariners who want to update their existing preprogrammed charts. Similar to the New Chart Guarantee, the discounted updates are only for the same region as the original preprogrammed purchase. The special rate will vary depending on the BlueChart. Garmin's BlueChart g2 and BlueChart g2 Vision offer detailed charts for mariners when they are out at sea. The marine mapping provides realistic features including coastlines, obstructions, restricted areas, and depth contours so mariners are always aware of their surroundings.
