Recent news has brought some levity to the scandal involving the FBI and vehicle tracking devices. It seems that in all the fuss surrounding the (still) illegal practice of covertly tracking an individual or asset, the FBI has lost some of their GPS devices. The much-contested verdict, handed down from the US Supreme Court, ordered the tracking devices be disabled immediately. GPS devices will not transmit their position when turned off, thus causing some headache within the Bureau. They have petitioned the Courts to enable the units temporarily, so the agents can go out and collect the hardware. No word yet on whether the Supreme Court judges will honor the FBI's request. To be on the safe side, career criminals may want to take a quick look around their vehicles to see if they were one of the lucky few on the FBI's radar! |
