Interbike is the leading bike industry event in North America. This popular event brings in more than 24,000 cycling and fitness enthusiasts, and has over 750 companies exhibiting the latest industry technology and products. Interbike serves as a one-stop shop for everything from nutrition to triathalon training to BMX and cycling. It does an amazing job of bringing together every type of culture that exists within the bike industry. The first two days of Interbike included the OutDoor Demo in Bootleg Canyon just outside the Las Vegas city limits. GPS City trekked through the hot desert to immerse ourselves into the culture of BMX and road bikers alike. We walked through the marketplace and watched the Bootleg Canyon Challenge where bikers raced through the desert hills to beat set times for prizes. We head back into "the city that never sleeps" for days 3-5 of the indoor Interbike Expo and Health + Fitness Business segment. This portion is massive, including two floors of the Sands Expo Convention Center inside The Venetian Hotel & Casino. As we file through the crowded aisles of biking fanatics, we find our way to the booths that interests us the most: Garmin and GoPro. Garmin's booth featured their leading lines of eTrex, Montana, Oregon, Edge and Forerunners. We were surprised to see that the only mention of the highly-anticipated Garmin fenix was in a booklet sitting on one of their tables. Lucky for you guys, we have them and have reviewed it in our videos that you can view here. We head off to the back corner of the expo where the crowd seems to get even thicker. Much to our surprise, the crowd was gathering around one of the most massive booths of the expo, GoPro. As people cheered and raised their hands in the air to grab the free gifts that were being tossed by GoPro employees, the company did a great job at hyping up the crowd for it's latest release, HD Hero2. The company raffled off a few bags filled with the newly sought-after camera along with every accessory GoPro has ever made. The crowd went wild. The Interbike events wrap up on Friday, but not without promoting the Viva Bike Vegas ride on Saturday morning. Good luck to all the riders, we'll see you at the finish line!
