Big news from Apple in the past few weeks with the announcement of the iPhone 5 and their new operating system iOS6. The internet, as usual, is abuzz with the opinions of current owners, potential customers and the ever-present trolls. The regular glowing reviews from Apple supporters have become a slew of complaints, regarding parts of the new OS design. One such concern was the replacement of the Google map app with Apple's proprietary map program. The Apple brand of navigation doesn't seem to have the same user-friendly components of it's predecessor. The reaction to the first release was appalling. The maps were missing major historical monuments, distorting significant bridges and provided inaccurate directions through traffic. The Maps app is missing Street View as well as public transportation guidance. Apple has not yet comment on the barrage of complaints, so there is hope that a new Google map application could be coming back soon. |
