Garmin has appointed former Chief Operating Officer and president, Clifton Pemble, as new chief executive. Co-founder Min Kao has stepped down, and the transition will happen at the start of the New Year. Kao is said to continue to play an important part in the company by becoming executive chairman. Pemble started working at Garmin in 1989 as one of the company's first engineers. He has since gone on to serve as the COO since October of 2007. It is with a heavy heart that GPS City sees the pioneer of GPS technology take a step down, but happy for his sustained role on the board. We have no doubt that Garmin will seamlessly continue to grow and develop innovative technology to better our lives under the new leadership. We are confident that Pemble will lead the team in a positive direction and can't wait to see what he has in store for the future.
