Suunto has created a social networking site that allows athletes the ability to share their customized apps created on the Sunnto Ambit GPS watch. The movescount.com site has an App Zone where over 500 members are collaborating their data to improve workouts for everyone. The top-rated apps include; an incline monitor to measure the grade of a hill or mountain, and a heart rate zone indicator for controlling the level of intensity in a workout. These and many other useful apps are designed for both beginner and professional athletes, they are subject to the users personal profile and fitness goals. For this process to work users will need to update their Suunto Ambit firmware to version 2.0. This upgrade also includes ANT+ support, a footpod sensor option and an interval timer. By adding these functions Sunnto definitely helped justify the rather steep cost of the Ambit, currently retailing for US$500.
