Brand-new to the Canadian market are the Aetrex Navistar GPS-enabled footwear, a user-friendly electronic monitoring and safety solution.
While this product has been available in Europe for some time, Canada has just recently received the green light from Industry Canada to allow this tracking product to be used. Set up on the Rogers GSM cell service, users will have access to the shoe-wearers location, as long as the shoes are within cell coverage areas.
The comfortable design is offered in 4 styles for both men and women, and are perfect for monitoring patients with Alzheimer's or other dementia-related ailments. The whereabouts of the wearer can be tracked using a smartphone or computer with internet access. Alternatively, a geozone (or geofence) can be enabled allowing smartphone notifications to be sent out (via SMS text or email) when the shoes have left a designated area. The person tracking the location can then follow the map directly to the GPS coordinates of the shoe wearer.
The two tracking plans available are the Basic 30 Minute Plan which reports a location every half an hour for $34.99/month, or the Premier 10 Minute Tracking Plan for an additional $5/month
