READ FIRST, BEFORE COMPLAINING.

Pros: works great
Cons: bulky

For those considering this, don't be swayed by the Calgarian's comments. If you read Delorme's support page, it plainly indicates two things he has chosen to ignore: The first is that you need to be running the latest version of Android. The fact that Telus won't let you upgrade to v.2.3 is not Delorme's fault! Secondly, Delorme also cautions that there are issues with HTC phones (particularly those running older software). Do your homework and follow Delorme's instructions and you'll find that this works spectactularly (way better than the Spot coverage and you get confirmation that your message was actually received) in addition to two way. The only downside I can say about it, is that it is far bigger than i thought it would be. I expected it to be about the size of the Spot Connect and was surprised to see that it is far larger!

WON'T TALK TO MY ANDROID PHONE(ANDROID 2,2)

Pros: 2- way texting via satellite
Cons: unusable with my smartphone

After purchasing the unit, I found out it won't talk to my Telus HTC Desire, which runs Android 2,2. The fine print suggests I upgrade to Android 2.3 but Telus aren't saying when the upgrade will be available. Prospective customers should CONFIRM that the Inreach will work with their android phone before leaving the store.

SAFETY PRODUCT RUSHED TO MARKET

Pros: great specs, lots of promise
Cons: doesn't work

Sorry Delorme. First your activation process is broken. Then the inReach device refuses to even pair (much less work) with your software on multiple versions of Android (2.2 and 2.3). Your tech support doesn't return calls, even days later. And over email, rather than looking into issues right away, tech support delays and asks for 'screenshots' of the problem. It's a cool looking device, with some amazing specs, but paying $250 plus a monthly fee to basically be a beta tester is too much. For a safety device, you've lost my trust for now.

Also, I'd like to comment that this doesn't have to do with gpscity. The inReach is one of a few devices I've gotten from them, and their service is always great.
