I wanted a sturdy way to mount my Magellan GPS in my Jeep CJ. The suction cup method would not work with off-roading - especially when I fold the windshield down. Since I have a crossbar integrated in my Jeep's rollcage, I mounted a RAM onto a Rockhard aluminum arm clamped to the crossbar. Since the end of the arm will accept more RAM ball mounts, I can also use mounts for a still or video camera or my cell phone. When I use the GPS in my daily driver, I simply move it to that vehicle's cradle. RAM mounts make mounting electronics simple and secure.
