POOR SOUNDINGS
Cons: poor channel updates, poor spot sounding info.
I was disapointed in the accuracy of the spot soundings for my area of interest. I know of depths that are not on the chart near shore that would be vital in a fishing setting and also of bars that are not shown.with all the sats floating up there in space, one might think of how they could be tasked for this.

BLUE CHART CD
OK. Not as good as the physical charts, but good enough for my needs. Some awkward depth contour breaks where US & Canadian charts meet as well as where scales differ between adjacent charts. The breakdown of the regions around Vancouver Island is awkward for those like me who boat both sides of the Island - requires 2 unlock codes for a relatively small area of the coast.

GARMIN AMERICAS BLUECHART CD V2008.5
Pros: accurate
Cons: downloadable charts should cover a wider area.
Good coverage of area desired.

NOT VERY GOOOD
Very poor level of detail on the maps. I have Navionics maps on my other GPS and these didn't compare. Overall because of the poor maps I regret buying a Garmin GPS.

BEST MARINE MAPPING
Pros: i like the computer route planning, but, see below
Cons: does not transfer between garmin and computer well
much better than the paper charts,
only have found one green buoy out of place so far.

BLUECHART EXCELLENT
Pros: all good
Cons: not all nav charts are completely accurate
This software coupled w/ map source is excellent software and will enhance safe vessel operation & navigation.
