GARMIN APPROACH 3

The unit arrived in 2 days and I had some difficulty in getting the latest updates downloaded from Garmin, but, once updated, I had no further issues. I have used the unit 3 times already and find it to be accurate. I rely on the green mode to gauge the amount of green before and after the flag to enable me to select the correct club.

GARMIN APPROACH G3

Ordered and received shipment in lightning fast time. Thanks gpscity..com. Does a great job in giving you yardages. Glare from screen is not an issue as you can always rotate the unit a bit to see what you need---never had a problem. Accurate drawing of holes you are about to play. Would buy the same unit again.

WORKED WELL IN MYRTLE BEACH OR CHARLOTTE, NC.

Pros: easy to set-up and accurate.
Cons: none found yet

I bought it based on previous reviews, even though some of them were very negative. I found it to be accurate, within 1 yard of the on course markers. (i.e., the 150 YD marker) Battery life was better thatn I expected, used non- rechargable batteries and was able to do 45 holes before I had to change them. I am going to invest in rechargable Lithium ion battery kit.

VERY SATISFIED

Pros: durable. no fees. has all the basics you need.
Cons: tree cover is useless.

This is a good unit. It is easy to use and very durable. I've only used it twice, but it seems accurate so far. I keep if in my back pocket (it's about size of my wallet) and I don't find the weight to be an issue at all. I lock the screen when in my pocket so it won't change screens. The battery life is good with rechargeables (I think it will last at least 3 rounds). No issues so far with reception. No issues with the touchscreen. I bought a screen protector on ebay for $1.50, and it does the trick. So far I am very pleased. My only complaint is that the tree cover is not very useful. I would like to see this improved in the future.

GARMIN APPROACH G3

Pros: quick response time, accurate, can change the batt
Cons: negatives are the viewing screen which is difficul

Good system, I tried it for the first time in an area that is difficult to receive sat. signals, my cell phone works in one area and move 25 ft and it does not receive a signal, no problems with the approach though. Touching the screen to determine distances to water or an obstacle is a bit challenging to get it exactly to the max. For the price it is a good purchase and the basic options that are offered it is good value.

GOOD BASIC GPS

Pros: small size, affordable, easy to read, accurate
Cons: a little too simple in graphics.

The Approach G3 is a nice basic unit with some additional features. It has proven to be very accurate (within a yard or so) when compared side by side with other brands and methods of distance measurement - laser sighting. The screen is easy to see in direct sunlight and the characters and numbers are large enough to read. The graphics are a little too simple in detail and some course characteristics, i.e. bunkers, landmarks are not as complete as they should be.

MARGINAL DISPLAY - WEAK MAPS

Pros: battery life, fits well in a pocket.
Cons: poor detail on maps, mediocre screen.

The Approach G3 does it's job, but it's nothing special.

The display is adequate, but not great, definitely not as clear as the pictures on the Garmin web site!

The course maps are accurate, but again not very detailed.

The user interface is in the same league, adequate, but nothing special. Entering the score can be tedious if it doesn't automatically move to the scorecard and the scorecard doesn't track putts.

Compared to GolfShot on an iPhone, it has a lower quality display and less detailed maps.

Wha is does have is longer battery life and you don't have to wait for to download the maps.

This device is new for Garmin so there is an opportunity for them to upgrade the maps and UI without having to buy a new device.

GARMIN G3 - GREAT!!!!

Pros: waterproof! small, good on batteries
Cons: none so far.

I have had this for a couple of weeks now, I play at Redtail in Nisku and compare there cart GPS to the G3 and then to my laser, they are always within 1-2 yards of each other. This thing could'nt be easier to use, just turn it on, pick your course and away you go. I love it! I am using rechargeable lithuim batteries and am getting between 3-4 rounds on them before I swap them out.

GARMIN APPROACH G3

Pros: ease of use, size, view screen.
Cons: none

I'm very happy with the G3. It works great and is very easy to operate. The start-up finds the course you're playing right away and is easy to read. And the small size is very convenient. And its really durable.

GREAT GPS, TERRIBLE CLIP MECHANISM

Pros: sturdy, waterproof, accuracy, preloaded courses
Cons: belt clip mechanism

The unit itself is excellent. I've used it a few times now and the yardages are accurate. Having all the courses preloaded and not having to pay an annual fee is what put me over the top in buying this unit. The big 'BUT' is in regard to the clip and how it attaches to the unit. It has come undone a few times and the unit has fallen off. You'd think Garmin would have done a little better job in this regard and it's the only reason I'm not giving this a 5 rating.
