GARMIN G5
Purchased for Xmas so haven't had opportunity to try I. I requested 4 courses to be added, but they have not been added yet. Hope they are there before golf season. Garmin say they update courses quarterly, last update in Jan 2012, so courses should be there in 3 months. Will wait and see.

AWESOME GPS
Pros: accurate, screen is visible in direct sunlight Cons: don't expect more than one round of battery life
This GPS is awesome. Since buying it I have grained great a deal confidence in my club selection for distances. The unit is very rugged, accurate and the screen is readable in direct sunlight. When comparing to GPS's provided by the golf courses and fairway markers, the distance reading are identical. I highly suggest using rechargeable batteries such as NiCAD or Lithium because the battery life from two AA's is good for one round and using alkaline batteries would be expensive and a hassle. The bottom line is that I am extremely happy with my purchase and if I were in the market again, I would buy another one.

BIG IMPROVMENT IN ACCURACY
Pros: accuracy.no limit on number of courses.no subscrip Cons: needed a separate gps mount for my hand cart.
Traded in my existing Golf Logix GPS because, even after sending it back several times and downloading software updates, it still was not reliably accurate. A shame to replace a unit that still had life, but the primary function of a golf GPS is to reliably and repeatably give accurate distances. The Approach G5 is an excellent unit. Not only are the distances consistently accurate, the screen is easy to read under most conditions. The unit holds thousands of courses, and there is no need for an annual subscription to keep the data base up to date. I would recommend this device without reservation.

GARMIN APPROACH GOLF GPS
Pros: ease of use, price Cons: courses out of date
A good basic golf GPS. Easy to use and easy to read in the sunlight. Accurate distances. Major problem is that the course layouts are old, at least two years out of date. E mailed Garmin and they said they would be updated..we will see

GARMIN APPROACH
After asking whether this unit would get courses in Los Cabos,BCS, Mexico, I was told yes.............NOT, a few of the others do but not this one. Very dissapointing. Your staff should be 'educated' on the product you sell. We have a home down there and would have liked to use it there as well.

GOOD ALL AROUND GOLF GPS
Pros: quick on time no additional fees/downloads needed Cons: screen could be brighter
I agree with most reviews. The accuracy is excellent and gives yardages identical to SkyCaddie when a playing partner is using that device. Simple to use right out of box with all courses I want to play already in memory. I use the "measure shot" option often and that has definitely helped my course management and club selection, with better scores. Batteries last 2 rounds in my hands.

WORTH THE MONEY BUT NEED MORE COURSE MAPS
Pros: accurate, good graphics Cons: slow on maps updates.
The GPS has been available in the US for about a year before being brought to Canada. So I was anticipating this item for awhile. It's amazing how poorly this product is marketed in Canada. Few people are familiar with it. I've used it for about 20 rounds and have no complaints. It's accurate and provides a reasonable graphic of the fairway and hazards. I consider it to be my 15th club.
[Ed. note: My 15th club is my money-saving ball fetcher!]

BEST IN THE MARKET
Pros: best for players who play many different courses Cons: no courses added for asia and europe (yet)
I got this after extensive research and it's great, simply the best out there: it is accurate (not all yardage markers are accurate), easy to use, touch screen, stat tracking if you want to use, no annual subscriptions, lifetime free updates, AA batteries, hole layout imaging, good size and waterproof. If you play many different courses, this is the best investment. I was in the golf GPS business before and have seen many handhelds, some too gimicky, some too basic, others just don't work well enough. This one is just solid in all the right places.

GREAT GOLF GPS
Pros: user friendly, courses pre-loaded Cons: # of courses mapped compared to competition
Have played one round with the Garmin. Used it on a course that I had never played before and the information provided made club selection a breeze (yardages were accurate). Screen was easy to read in bright sunlight. The Canadian courses added in the most recent download are relatively complete for Alberta with the exception of the mountain courses. Not quite sure why these weren't included as they are destination courses for many avid Alberta golfers. Have just downloaded the stat tracking function contained in the most recent software update.

GREAT GOLF GPS
Pros: easy to use, bright screen, free map updates Cons: none
Easy to set up and use. Have used it for 5 rounds at 5 different courses, very accurate at each course. Screen is bright and readable in outdoor setting. Menus are easy to navigate through. Not having to pay an ongoing subscription fee for course maps is a big plus. Runs on rechargeable, replaceable batteries so it won't quit on you in the middle of a round. Garmin is updating the course database on a regular basis.
