GPS PET TRACKING
The Astro 220/DC30 bundle is a great product. Although I had read very good reviews about it by hunters, I was initially uncertain because I was planning to use it for a different purpose (keeping track of my 2 pet dogs on our 5 acre property). But my concerns were dissipated after trying it. The collars looked bulky, and I was worried our dogs would not like them. To the contrary, the collar is actually very light weight, and the dogs don't seem to mind them at all. In fact, I would swear the labrador mix was standing up a bit straighter after I put it on her. I think it made her feel important. I am able to receive a strong, consistent signal both inside and outside the house. You can set landmarks such as the shed, garage, mailbox, etc. for orientation on the map. The DC30 collars are rechargable, and I ordered the accessory NIMH rechargable batteries and charger for the Astro 220, which is a must if you are going to be using it on a daily basis like we do (With regular AA batteries, it only has a 24 hour battery life). One nice-to-have feature that is lacking from this bundle is some audible alerts that would warn you if the dog crosses certain preset boundaries (e.g. boundary to neighbor's yard or getting too close to the road) i.e. an electronic invisible fence, so to speak. The unit does have the capacity to download additional software, so I am planning to explore if there is anything like this available.

BEST DOG TRACKING SYSTEM
Pros: easy to use, doesn't lose gps signal
Having used different radio tracking systems on my pig dogs with good results on most systems, I was excited by the concept of the Astro. Now having purchased and used the unit for about 4 months I can say that this unit is miles ahead of anything else, its changed the way I hunt. My dogs hunt off the back of the truck and before when they jumped and went into dense cover we would turn off the truck, listen then start tracking when heard nothing. Now I don't even get out of the truck unless the Astro says the dog has "tree'd quarry" or I here him with a pig. And it works everywhere, even in the thickest of cover and with the densest of cloud cover. I've never had a problem with lost signal and I believe that if you buy another system you're only making life harder for yourself. Also great for getting back to the truck after a long chase in the middle of night, something the other trackers can't do.

MAGIC FOR PIG HUNTING IN NZ
Pros: see above review! Cons: slight loss of signal in valleys etc- fades a bit.
This one was actually bought for a friend after seeing how our one worked. He was hooked! Miles better than the old radio tracking system we had before. The "dog on tree" signal tells us where to get to the bail up- you don't have to listen real hard for the bark or run around wondering which way the dogs went. Also gives a neat little insight into how well your dogs work out of your sight and control- you might be surprised at what dog gets caught napping or mucking around! Also invaluable if hunting with a mate and you need to split up- one takes a collar with them. We have a unit with 3 matched collars. A worthy investment ensuring the safety of your dogs and in nailing that ever elusive boar.

GARMIN ASTRO 220 AND DC30 BUNDLE
Pros: gps technology Cons: range with regular antenna
This tracking system is great . It is easy to use for new operators and is neat being able to see exactly what and were your dog is . If you buy this I would recommend buying the extended range antenna . With the regular antenna I can track my dogs up to 1.5 miles and with the extended range antenna I can truck up to 3.5 - 4 miles depending on the terrain.

GARMEN ASTRO 220 COMBO HUNTING GPS WITH DC30 DOG T
Very pleased and doing everything I wanted it to do. Have been able track my dogs in heavy cover, so have got a couple of pigs I would not have got otherwise. Saves hours of waiting for dogs to return out of tree blocks and bush.

AWESOME PRODUCT!!!!!
This product is awesome!!! I was using a radio based tracker for three years prior to purchasing this product to track my pig dogs. I took the astro out once and sold the other tracker as soon as I got home. This has revolutionised my hunting. My dogs track out up to 3 kms and I often hunt in dense bush and mountainous country. The Astro 220 with the DC30 collars work very well in this terrain.
Now I know what the dogs are doing and where they are. I have found out which of my dogs is doing all the work and have already, after a month, got two pigs that I would not have known about with the old tracker.
I have lost radio contact and less frequently GPS signal, but only ever for a few minutes at a time.
