GREAT ADAPTER FOR 60CSX
Pros: good connection, waterproof(not tested yet)
Had this on my DR650 and was very steady and connected all the time even in rough off road conditions. Used it with the RAM mount for 60csx.

LIGHTER ADAPTER
Pros: saves bateries.
Cons: can not use with dashboard mount
Works as should but very disappointed that we can't use it when in the GPSMAP 60 Suction Mount. Was hoping to use at the same time as the mount for long trips but can't. Other wise it works fine for saving batteries.

Wired the cord to my battery on my motorcycle, went bad first use. Junk
[Ed. note: John, please note that this cable is not meant for hard wiring use on a motorcycle. Doing this will cause the cable to fail as there is not an inline fuse protecting the cable and/or the GPS from too much power. Garmin DOES have a power cable that is meant exactly for this purpose. Works really well, the only issue is if you have a dash mount for the Garmin 60CSX, you can't use the mount and the adapter as the GPS with the adapter attached won't sit properly in the mount.

PROBLEM WITH PLUG DESIGN - TWO BROKEN FOR ME
Pros: good quality cable.
Cons: fragile plug design - breaks easily
I have had the plug come apart and break the wire connection on two of these cables when trying to unplug it from the GPSMAP 396 unit. I was aware of the problem the second time, and despite great care the plug was stuck so tight in the unit that it came apart. Garmin replaced the first, and now I am having to purchase another (the third). Garmin needs to fix this plug design.

IT WORKS
This seems to be a Garmin standard item. Overall fit & finish are excellent. With reasonable care it should last a long time. I've used it on a motorcycle it seems to have good weather resistance.

4-PIN ADAPTER
Pros: does its job!
I really need the four pin adapter. I cut and sicard the cigarette lighter end because I employ the better-designed and waterproofed end from the Battery Tender jr. set up. You run your power cable, zip-tying it along the way.
I do soldered joints and heat shrinkable tubing, works likes a charm. I understand others have ready cigarette lighter female ends, so that is a no-brainer. Each to its own. I like the goof-proof pigtail adapter from Battery render jr.

Pros: ample cord lenght, solid feel
I bought a cable on ebay for a fraction of the price. Unfortunately while handing around the GPS in my car, the cable was strained and the cheap solder connection let go in the adapter. This version feels way more solid and the cord length is greater.

Having just purchased a Garmin 60CSX and being used to using our GPS unit mostly in the truck while travelling thru various forestry roads/trails to get to that next perfect isolated lake, this adapter was a much have. Saves on batteries and lets us worry free about running out of juice for the GPS. And, again, GPSCity.ca had the best price that we could find.

Can't go wrong with the factory parts. Fits nice. I use it on my dual sport bike and it works great. The connector doesn't screw in, it just presses in, but I never had an issue with it falling out.

GOOD FACTORY CABLE AT A DECENT PRICE
Pros: factory quality at a good price
Cons: blocks serial pins - which wouldn't matter to most
I always like factory cables. Usually they cost so much more that I play the finesse game on aftermarket cables. This Garmin original cable is same price as aftermarket so it's a no-brainer.
My only other note is that I discovered my Garmin GPSMAP 60CSX would happily power itself off my Motorola car phone charger - which is mini-usb. So if you've got a mini-usb car power cable that's long enough (my Motorola one is only long enough in my truck but not the van) then you can yse that instead (and not charge your phone though ...)

This was for an old Street Pilot III (which I originally bought from GPSCity) that I just had renovated by Garmin. (It is a wonderful GPS and much more stable than the new ones, in my opinion.) But the original Cigarette Lighter Adapter cord also had a speaker attached to the cord which was nice since it took up little space. I wonder why they didn't add the speaker like the original. I haven't used this new cord (which has a unique power plug) but I decided to buy this one from you as a backup since some day a cord for that unit will probably not be available. But now I will have to figure out where to place a speaker when I use it someday. Is there any speaker units for that power cord I am not aware of?

A must if you use the GPS in a vehicle. I use the 60CSX in conjunction with this product, however it is still advised to have the AA batteries in the device in case your vehicle breaks down or had a battery related fault. apart from that good bit of kit. only down side is the one I have does no have a green confidence light, the older ones had them.
