QA DIFFERENT OPTION FOR GPS 62 USERS
I am using the same power cable that I use to charge my motorola hands free device. But before you try this you must first tell the 62S how to respond when you plug a generic power cord in. follow these steps and you will have no problem. The 62S will ask if you want USB or power mode.
Setup>System>Interface setting configured to Garmin Spanner.

WORKS WELL
It works like its supposed to. My only complaint is the power connector faces the wrong way. When plugged into my Oregon 400, the power cord comes out the front instead of the back of the GPS making the cable hard to hide in my vehicle and putting extra strain on the connector on my motorcycle.

WORKS GREAT
Pros: saves buying or charging extra batteries Cons: cord facing the front is a minor con.
Just made a 400 mile trip and back and by using this cord on my Oregon 450 I saved a bunch of battery power. Works great. I'll be using it on my ATV while roaming around the mountains this summer. The cord facing to the front didn't seem to be a problem like some reviewers had said, although a straight out angle probably would be an improvement.

POOR OREGON VEHICULE POWER CABLE
Cons: cons
I simply assumed that the design of this cable built for Colorado is simply not applicable to Oregon. The output is facing the screen and the visibility is reduced. The flexibility of the cable is horrible on cold weather, it should be constructed of rubber and not thermoplastic. For prospective buyers think about it twice. I do not understand Garmin which is the industry leader, and after many years, not having thought of a better design

GOOFY OREGON POWER CABLE
Pros: none Cons: bad design
Horrible design. I am sure this is the same cable the Colorado uses and there it makes sense because the 90 degree bend allows you to easily route the cable behind and under the GPS. On the Oregon, it brings the cable toward you and up! I never use it and wish I had looked more closely at it. Shame on Garmin for not coming up with a better design for a pretty expensive GPS.

OREGON VEHICLE POWER CABLE
The cable's output connector is a 90 degree angle plug and the Oregon's power connector is located on the bottom of the unit. It takes extra care to insert or remove the plug from the Oregon. When connected, the power cable loops up towards the front of the Oregon and places extra strain on the connector. It would be much better if the plug was a straight plug instead of the 90 degree angled plug. This would allow for easier insertion and removal from the unit. This power cable would work well for any unit types that have the power connector loacted on the rear of the unit . ie Nuvi 265.

Nothing wrong with the cable itself, but for the Oregon 450, the angle at the end of the cord tip is oriented to route the cord up toward the face of the GPS rather than toward the back. Useable, but awkward.

THE ONLY CAR POWER OPTION - FLAWED
Pros: saves batteries on the dakota Cons: right angle plug bends rubber usb port flap
Due to Garmin's apparent need to sell overpriced accessories, this propietary cable is needed to power your Dakota. While GPSCity's price is the best avaialble, $20 for a simple cable is way too much. In addition, the connector fits the Dakota at a right angle - UP - so that the rubber USB port flap is bent upwards. I suspect that will eventually ruin the seal requiring replacement. The USB plug is not a tight fit but that does not seem to be too much of an issue. The cord, however is way over spec'ed such that is is brutally stiff. No need for such heavy duty cable on a low voltage device. There really is no option unless you home brew your own cable.

GREAT PRODUCT!
Pros: great... added light on the screen... Cons: there is a curious angle to the plug.
I purchased a Garmin Oregon 400 last winter and Love it. The battery life is okay but I thought I would be better served with a power cable since I rigged my motorcycle with a 12 volt socket. Luckily Garmin had a cable just right for my needs. The cable is high quality and very economically priced. The cable length is sufficient and the plug fitting into the GPS is fine providing you own a proper GPS carriage for a Oregon series unit. It gave me constant power supply with additional light strength on the screen. This cable is a must for all dual sport bike riders. Thanks gpscity for you prompt service. I'll be a repeat customer soon.

GARMIN COLORADO AND OREGON VEHICLE POWER CABLE
Cons: "l" shape connector
Works fine except where the cable plugs into the device. The "L" shape connector forces the cable to stick out from the device at a 90 degree angle instead of hanging strait down. This is the only problem and would have received a 5 out of 5 if not for the design flaw.

WORKS WELL BUT POOR DESIGN
Cons: poor design
This power cord works perfectly well. Not much to say about that. It fits and powers up the unit just fine.
However, the connector is angled and hooks up so that it puts the cord sticking out forward and it is always in the way in the car. The cord should either go straight down or to the back so it's out of the way. It's this design issue that brings the rating down for me.

AKWARD TO USE WITH CRADLE.
Pros: powers the colorado. Cons: a real pain if your using it with a vehicle mount.
I bought this to go with my Colorado 300, which I bought from gpscity and dearly love, and it powers my Colorado like it says it will and makes the screen go ultra bright. That being said, I am using it with a Ram mount and cradle made for the Colorado. The problem is you have you wait until you put the device in the cradle to put this cable on because of the L shape on the connector, but once you have your Colorado in the cradle (at least for windshield mount) you cant see the top of the device without completely adjustint the arms on the ram and then putting them back in once you find the whole for the connector. This ends in alot of fumbling around day or night. I put up with it for a week and a half until I finally ended up just buying a cigarette lighter adapter that had a usb port and now just run a regular usb mini cable without the L bend to the garmin in spanner mode just so I can connect the cord before I put it in the cradle. Save your self the pain and do the same. Still much love for gpscity.com though.
