DISAPOINTING

Pros: humm still searching for it
Cons: unreliable truck mapping

I drive truck for few years and I ve always use car's GPS. With a little common sense, it's overall done a great job over the past years. I decided to spent the extra buck for a truck dedicated GPS, but the map are so full of mistake (in Montreal's area at least) about which roads are for truck or not, that it s so unreliable that it doesn't worth the price difference between car gps and truck gps. My good'old 1490 was not bad at all. The logbook option is good only for US DOT rules. Very annoying warning blocking the screen when you use a road it think is not truck allowed. In car mode it do the same job as any other car's GPS, only it's more expensive.

NOT A RELIABLE TRUCK GUIDENCE

Pros: good car guidence
Cons: navtec not accurate for truck routing

The map base is NOT truck friendly routes that ARE legal for trucks is not recognized & tries to re-route, even tho trucks can LEGALLY travel there. The volume is only at half volume when not plugged into the power source. It isn't loud enough while driving the truck when on "battery use"

VERY NICE UNIT, BUT NOT FOR TRUCKS AS ADVERTISED

Pros: large screen, light, responsive touch
Cons: not for truckers, year old roads still don't show

Pros: 1. Many nice functions for trucks. 2. Shows location on search by default. 3. Big enough screen. 4. At the pump function. 5. IFTA logging 6. Toll roads mileage logger (only if the route was setup and active)

Cons: 1. On the highway the GPS is indicating the clearance of the underpass below the road you are. 2. When the trucks are not allowed in the left lane, you are instructed to leave the route and choose an alternate road. 3. Telling you are not allowed at the service areas where is a special truck parking?! 4. Places with car speed of 45 mph and truck speed limit of 25 mph, indicates as 45 limit. 5. Really dangerous curves in USA are not marked, when even a light curve warns you as dangerous in Canada. 6. Doesn't know the truck routes in small cities. As a general rule, as soon as you exit the, limited access highways, you are on your own. 7. Most of the overhead clearances in Quebec are wrong. 8. Very frequent data corruption occurs, thank God there is a backup done regularly. 9. When the unit is on batteries, you will not hear most of the voice directions. Very short battery life. 10. Bluetooth is useless, can’t hear anything even with maximum volume on the cord power. 11. Annoying advertising for the Best Western coupons. It is better to pay for, or not to get traffic reports at all, as most of the time they are outdated. 12. No NTTS info for Canada. 13. There is no odometer reading on the state mileage or at the pump reports, that is required by the IFTA. 14. The gravity pad will not stay in its place even in a Volvo truck. 15. Jurisdiction summary needs more work no periods or filters. 16. HOS for USA only. Lets you to switch off with driver on duty status (creates over worked hours when in reality the driver was off duty).

Wish list: 1. More powerful speaker or external speaker option. 2. Return to the map button from any screen (now you have to go back as many screens as you have gone through). Will save time and will be safer on the road. 3. Search ahead function (now it is searching everywhere) “On my driving side” if I am on a limited access or divided median highway, “On my route” for regular roads, “in a ## miles” from the route. 4. Cancel button next to OK button on driver status update screen. 5. Map scaling on a map view, or favorite settings list. 6. Larger fonts in the HOS violation description text. 7. In the Truck mode, the GPS pointer should be on the Cab level, not in the middle of the trailer. 8. Faster loading for the maps would be a big asset. 9. Learning mode, to enter new roads or exits.

DEZL 560LMT REVIEW

Pros: large display, loud audio
Cons: warnings for hazards&restrictions that dont exist

It is an improvement over the 465T I used before it lost its marbles. Thus far, the navigation is more accurate as are the warnings relative to big rigs but there is room for improvement in that department, for example, you don't really have to exit I-25 SB in Denver to avoid low clearance. Just use the center lanes.

GARMIN DEZL 560LMT

Pros: everything about it and lifetime updates
Cons: none to mention

Originaly purchased for our son as a Xmas gift we soon found out that it will work perfect for our family RV. Intended for commercial trucking this awesome little unit has a larger screen then my Nuvi 255, Nuvi 550, and comparible to my GPS Map 276C. Turns out my wife and I will be ordering another for our RV.

GPS City is the only place to deal!!! Thanks again.

TRUCK POINTS/ROUTES NOT MATURE YET...

Pros: excellent hardware & good basemaps
Cons: truck specific data not mature yet

3.0 out of 5 stars On my 3rd truck GPS in two weeks, dezl was #2, October 24, 2011 By Daniel C. Gillman - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)    This review is from: Garmin dezl 560LMT 5-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable Trucking GPS Navigator with Lifetime Map & Traffic Updates (Electronics) I'm on my third truck GPS in two weeks. First was the new Cobra 7" model...I returned it within 2 hours. The touch screen was terrible, I constantly had to punch the the screen multiple times before it would accept an entry and often times it would take the wrong letter/button, and I don't mean the next closest one, sometime it would enter a key 2" from where I touched the screen. Also of the 3 routes I tried entering, only 1 was correct, one was illegal for hazmat, and the other one went way out of the way for no reason that I could see. I returned it and got what I know. I've had a Garmin Nuvi for years and love it, but it was not made for trucks. I tried the Dezl. Typical of Garmin, it had an excellent touch screen and display. The base maps were able to find most address I entered, but not all. The biggest issue was with truck specific points and routes. I recently moved from PA to CO and took a job hauling gasoline. Therefore I needed a gps capable of finding many small gas stations, and routing me to them via legal Hazmat routes. This is where the Garmin FAILED!!! Though I had class 3 flammable liquid selected I my truck profile, it consistently routed me to roads that I knew to be illegal, worst of all it routed me through Eisenhower tunnel anytime I had to cross the mountains. It also had at least 3 low bridges marked in the wrong locations within Denver. The final straw was when it routed me straight through a small town that I later learned could have gotten me a $1000 ticket. I simply cannot afford to have a GPS that I can't trust. Garmin's hardware and base map are excellent. But their truck specific points/routes simply aren't mature yet. I returned the 5" Garmin and walked out with the 7" Rand Macnally 710 for the same price. So far it's routing has been spot on. I'm still used to the Garmin interface, but the RM if fairly Intuitive. According to the cashier at Pilot, they've had the least number of returns from the Rand Mcnallys. The Garmin is more polished and comes with the traffic antenna cord, which did work well although you have to put up with ads popping up every so often, but I just can't trust it's truck data. So far the Rand seems like the most accurate although I'm going to have dishout out another $80 if I want live traffic. Although if I understand correctly, its not ad supported.

Just my 2 cents...

BEST TRUCK GPS

Cons: no hos for canada

I've had my Dezl 560LMT for a couple of months now. Great unit, fast and stable. Does IFTA Tax tracking and hours of service. Also notifies you when you're approaching scales, steep grades, sharp turns, low overpasses, etc. Configurable for a variety of commercial vehicle weights and dimensions through the various vehicle profiles. The route are easy to program and even change while traveling. A great unit I would highly recommend.

A GREAT, TRUCK FRIENDLY GPS

Cons: no canadian hours of service option at this point

The 560 is very easy to program and use right out of the box. Saved routes are easily modified, even after having begun as the active route, an option not available on a lot of other, even top end units. One aspect I especially appreciate is how this navigator is a lot less likely to send a truck along a no truck route than most other units will but you still need to be aware of where you are going. All in all a great GPS and I would recomend it's use in any vehicle but especially trucks. The only drawback is the fact that the hours of service are strictly the American standard. Hopefully Garmin can find a way to incorporate the Canadian Hours of Service into the operation of an otherwise flawless driving aide!!!!

RV GPS

We use this gps for our RV, a 40 ft motorhome. Setup was easy and we were ready to go in minutes.

Travelled from Vancouver BC to Eugene OR. It was nice to have the traffic feature thru Seattle. Gave us the best route to take and accurately predicted the traffic flow.

Love the split screen at major turns actually showing a picture to the turn on one side and the map showing which lane we should be in on the other side.

Spoken directions were well timed and given well in advance and up to just before the actual turn.

I like the 7" screen and the mounting base which is supported by what looked like sand filled base with non slip bottom. Just throw it on the dash and away you go. Sound was more than loud enough even under noisiest conditions.

GOOD SO FAR

Pros: good size screen, don't need any bigger
Cons: bluetooth

good guidance so far, although although truck routes in canada are not always recognized, tried to send me down a residential street in vancouver when truck route was two blocks away, as always read the signs! very fast reroute, but not always the right route, again read the signs. Did get me into the right area of vancouver airport with no problems - very impressed - would have been a nightmare otherwise. very up to date maps and excellent graphics, love how it changes at night to a darker color. easy to use interface and excellent manual(and yes i do rtfm)

have had it for about a month and no regrets, still programming favorites and preferences which makes it even easier to use.

the blue tooth is not good for my noisy truck, have to turn volume up so loud callers can hear echo of themselves talking. don't buy this if you need bluetooth, get an in ear or headphone one.

all things considered (other than bluetooth) i would give this unit two thumbs up.

I've had my Dezl 560LMT for about a week. Great unit, fast and stable. Does IFTA Tax tracking and hours of service. Also notifies you when you're approaching steep grades, sharp turns, low overpasses, etc. Configurable for the commercial vehicle weight and dimensions for routing.

A MAJOR IMPROVEMENT FROM THE NUVI 465T

Pros: advanced detour option.
Cons: none so far.

I had the DEZL 560LMT for a week now, and found that it is a major improvement from the NUVI 465T. The operating system is much more stable, and there are so many more valuable features. Advanced detour option, Ability to drag and drop stops when creating a trip, and the ability to create a personalized 'Main Menu' are just a few. The Bluetooth also works a lot better than the nuvi's. IFTA logging, and 'Hours of Service' logging are also a nice addition. All in all, a real winner.
