EXCELLENT ITEM, EXCELLENT VALUE
I bought this to mount an eTrex Vista on my mountain bike, and it works great with the clip that came with the GPSr. The clip that came with mount won't fit the older eTrex line, but may work fir DIY applications as mentioned previously.

31.8MM BARS USERS BEWARE.
Pros: reasonably sturdy and simple to install.
Cons: may not work if you have os clamp bars.
Was a little difficult to mount for me. If you have traditional bars it should be an easy process. I have OS bars and the bars flare to 31.8mm at the stem clamp. There was barely enough room to get this between my brake levers and the flare. It ended up siting at a bit of an angle as I wasn't able to have it totally clear the flare. I used it with a eTrex Vista HCX using the sold seperately (or included with your unit) rail adapter.

GARMIN CLIP
This clip was perfect for my BMX bike handlebar in combination with the separate Garmin HCx clip replacement. Price was good and delivery was extremely quick. Thanks folks!

AWESOME PRICE, GOOD PRODUCT

I went from paying $20 for a mount at mec down to $10 for just the mount then down to $5 for this one which is the exact same mount as the rest of them just it comes with an old clip. So i bought two. It holds my Venture HC like a monkey holds a banana. It doesn't slip or even jiggle when riding my bike. It fits very nicely onto my handbars and its very easy to install. The old clips can definitely be used to mount other things or can probably be modified to fit my venture if i happened to break the clip for that someday.
Mine also came in black, if anyone cares.

WORKED FINE
Used on my bicycle... no issues. Used on an a Kawasaki F9 motorcycle, worked fine. Tried to use on my Honda XR650L... won't work because only open bar space for it is under the cross bar of the handlebar... and once installed, the gps won't fit between it and crossbar.
But... for everything else, seems like an ok mount.
I did rig a small wire leader from gps to handlebars so in case this thing ever breaks, gps will stay with me.

IT WORKS WITH GARMIN VISTA HCX
Pros: simple and cheap
Cons: none
I have a Garmin Vista Hcx. This bike mount is perfect: works great and inexpensive. I used the clip that came with my gps, so I now have an extra clip.

Hi,
Everybody would agree that in order to save $4, one should rather purchase this item over the single bike mount and tuck away the part that goes to the GPS. Well I have news for you. Keep-it. It's the cheapest way to get yourself a secure handlebar mount for anything homebrewed or homefixed (White LED lamp, radio and else). As a matter of fact, one doesn't even have to own a GPS to find this one to be a good bargain.

If you're looking to buy just a handlebar mount (without the clip), it is cheaper for you to buy this kit at $6.95 (with the clip and throw the clip away) than to buy the handlebar mount alone (part # 010-10496-01) at $10.95.
It does make sense, doesn't it?

For your info or FAQ's: this item is NOT compatible with a Garmin eTrex Vista CX.
First, the clip doesn't match the battery cover because of the hook on the clip. Second, the hole on the clip doesn't align itself at all with the hole on the battery cover. Third, the threads of the screw and the hole on the battery cover don't match at all.
Don't do like I did and buy two of these kits. Now, I'm stuck with them.
