SHUTS OFF WHEN MOUNTED ON MOTORBIKE
Good product when held in hand, but craps out when mounted on motorcycle handlebars (using Garmin handlebar mount). Therefore, one could argue that this is a defective product. I returned the first one because of this problem, got a free replacement....but same problem again. Boooo!

Great GPS but keeps shutting off due to vibration on my motorcycle mount. I ended up taking it apart and found the battery compartment is connected to the guts of the GPS by 4 small fingers that press against contact points on the PCB. This design will always be a problem when vibration is involved. I ended up soldering small wires between the battery compartment and the PCB. Hasn't been a problem since then but it is a pain in the ass to do and I'm not sure of the watertightnes of the case now either.

Love the unit, small compact, and mine came with a 64mb memory card from the factory (same part number) so that was an awesome bonus. WAAS works wonderfully here in Southern Ontario, have seen 2m accuracy from time to time driving around!!! Normally sits at a very good 5-7m but wow. Accessories, apparently the back that comes with the auto mounts, bike mount etc doesn't fit the cx models. So make sure you keep the accessory clip that comes in the box, it's the only way you'll be able to use those mounts. I agree with the base map comment but I added topo canada (routeable) and metroguide canada 4 (old but routable) think I will just get city navigator 8 north america when it comes out, and get a really big memory card to hold most of north eastern north america.

I rode from Toronto Ontario to Cape Breton Nova Scotia and return with this model fastened to the handlebars of my motorcycle, over four thousand kilometres. I found that the vibration would shut the eTrex Vista Cx off whenever it was mounted using the supplied accessory clip onto the the eTrex handle bar "C" clamp mount. When I placed the unit in my tank bag on the motorcycle under it's clear plastic cover, it worked like a charm without ever shutting off.
