Manufacturer Description |
The Garmin eTrex Vista combines a basemap of North and South America, with a barometric altimeter and electronic compass. The electronic compass provides bearing information while you're standing still and the altimeter determines your precise altitude.
The Garmin eTrex Vista also boasts an internal memory capacity of 24 megabytes, which allows it to accept downloaded mapping data from GARMIN's MapSource CD-ROMs. A silver case gives this unit a high-tech look. Marine navigation aids are included in addition to the basemap. These navigational aids are pre-loaded into each unit from the factory.

• GPS accuracy: 15 meters or less in normal GPS mode, 3 meters or less when WAAS-enabled
• Internal memory: 24 megabyte internal memory for loading MapSource detail including BlueChart marine and topographic cartography

• Display: 1.1''W x 2.1''H high-contrast LCD with bright backlighting
• Weight: 5.3 ounces with batteries (not included)
• Battery life: up to 12 hours using two AA alkaline batteries (typical use)

• Waterproof: IEC 60529 IPX7 standards (submersible in one meter of water for up to 30 mins.)
• Waypoints and routes: 1000 user waypoints with name and graphic symbol; 20 reversible routes

• Interfaces: RS232 with NMEA 0183, RTCM 104 DGPS data format and proprietary Garmin

PRE-LOADED GARMIN MARINE NAVIGATIONAL AIDS:
Included with the Garmin eTrex Vista is a the pre-loaded Marine navigational aids (Americas Marine Points of Interest). The data is loaded into the units 24MB of internal memory, and is not part of the basemap. If Garmin MapSource Mapping Software is loaded into the Garmin eTrex Vista, the preloaded Marine POI database will be erased.
To recover this pre-loaded Marine POI data, the Map Database file can be downloaded from GARMIN's web site at www.garmin.com.
Note: Garmin MapSource Mapping Software and the Marine POI database cannot be loaded at the same time.
SOFTWARE UPGRADES FROM GARMIN:
• Increase Waypoint/Tracklog Storage:
Upgrade 3.10, and above, for the eTrex Vista now includes an increased active track log to 10,000 points, an increased saved track log to 750 points, an increased user waypoints to 1,000 waypoints and an increased waypoints per route to 125 waypoints. Click here for unit software upgrade.
• Jump Master Program:
Upgrade 2.41, and above, for the eTrex Vista now includes JumpMaster. This accessory follows military guidelines for calculating a jumpmaster's high altitude release point (HARP). The accessory can auto-detect when a user has jumped to begin navigating him toward the desired impact point (DIP) using the barometer and electronic compass. • Glide Ratio:
Upgrade 2.28, and above, for the eTrex Vista now includes glide ratio, glide ratio to target, and vertical speed to target as choices for all configurable fields. Click here for unit software upgrade.
• Area Calculation:
Upgrade 2.18, and above, for the eTrex Vista now includes a new accessory to calculate the area of a track. The area of a saved track is displayed on the track detail page. Click here for unit software upgrade.
