BOUGHT THIS FOR CYCLING
Pros: size of display (if you need reading glasses !) Cons: big on the wrist
Does what it says really well. Works great with the cadence sensor. Heart rate sensor works 100% without too much fiddling. (I find my Polar a bit temperamental by comparison)

EXCELLENT SIMPLE TO USE FITNESS GPS
Pros: simple use, long lasting battery, customizable Cons: time to find satellite (sometimes 3-4 minutes)
Bought this product from GPS city, received rapid delivery, and was ready to use right out of the box. There is a tremendous degree of functionality and ability to customize training screens, and yet the device is not complex to figure out. It's fairly intuitive. Downloading your information to computer and seeing your routes come to life on Google maps is amazing. The knowledge alone from seeing my pace, my distance, elevation etc. has improved my training immensely in six shorts weeks. A final plus: cost was much lower than other retail sports I researched.

GARMIN FORERUNNER 305
Pros: great value, excellent performance. Cons: shape factor and strap could be improved.
This is a great hiking and running aid for the price. It locks onto the GPS signal quickly, and the heartrate monitor is accurate and comfortable. Helps to find the car after long hikes through winding forest trails. Monitors calories and heartrate to make sure you keep up the pace. Screen should face the wearer more squarely to make reading easier. The strap could be a bit more flexible. This bargain jewel gets four stars of five.

FORERUNNER 305 EXPERIENCES FROM ME
Pros: attractive package and easy to read layout Cons: a little large (maybe bulky is the right word?)
I bought this when it was suggested by someone, and it appeared on sale a while back. Product arrived promptly, this retailer is great in that regard. Considering buying some more from them, for that reason (and when stuff is on sale :-)
The software garmin provides for this is sh*t. Get the (free, or by donation) software called "Trailrunner" - available for windows and mac computers. You'll still need the garmin software for extracting the historic information off the 305, but once that's done, use Trailrunner for all the rest. I'm no athlete, but this is really helping me chart my progress while I am dealing with heart and health issues (I walk). History data is intriguing to see, and for me (and my health care provider), the heart rate data in historical layout is great to see.

MY ONLY GPS WATCH SO FAR BUT THE BEST EVER.
Pros: everything but the cons Cons: battery life, incl. software, charging base
This watch met my needs. I haven't even got into all the options of planning workouts, training plans etc as its usually easier for me just to do it. I do like the data that I'm able to get from it. I compared the speed data with my friend's 405 and the 305 is much more accurate with less fluctuation. -I don't really use the supplied software, only to do a quick check as I upload everything onto Training Peaks. The map portion is it's weakest link. They need to team up with google maps and get something into the software instead of having to export it all the time to Google Earth. -The charging clip doesn't seem to hold on to the watch very well. It seems like it could pop off at any moment. -I chose this over the 310XT because it was cheaper and I would never really wear it swimming. The GPS signal doesn't work to well in the water unless you wear it under your cap (i'm not going to risk that with a +$400 watch) and it would be slow to take off the watch before trying to take off your wetsuit never mind trying to take off the wetsuit with the watch still on. -the price was great -one of the fitness best buys you can make technology wise second to a powermeter on a bike

GREAT FITNESS GPS (IF THE BATTERY LASTS)
Pros: good feature set. easy to use. Cons: poor battery life. usb timeout errors.
This is my second Forerunner 305. After two years of regular use with the first one, the battery would no longer hold a charge and could not be used for more than 10 minutes. After some research, I could see that others have experienced the same problem. In Canada, the cost to replace the battery out of warranty is about $100. I really like the features and ease of use of the 305, so thought I would try again and bought a new one on sale. So. here's hoping this one does better. Otherwise, I'll stick with my Forerunner 301.

GARMIN FORERUNNER 305 - A MUST HAVE.
Pros: great unit for the $, lots of options, reliable Cons: confusing to set up first time, but what isn't.
I purchased my 305 through GPS city over two years ago, and it has worked absolutely flawless from day one. I can't run without it, and if mine was ever "misplaced", I would buy the same model again. No need to wet the HR monitor pads, as I've never had a problem with the signal, and I use it regularly in -20 celcius weather. I still use mine 2-3 times a week for running, cycling and even geocaching. Setting up the "data fields" for the different display screens was confusing at first as the manual is a bit vague, but once you get the hang of it you never look at the manual again, and the videos available now would be helpful for new users. Seems a bit bulky the very first time you put it on compared to a regular watch, but once you start running you don't even notice it's there. No problems with the internal battery in the watch, or the HR monitor so far. Never loses the GPS signal on trail runs. I love knowing the stats when I run, and I honestly credit my 305 for pushing myself to run my first half marathon. Great unit.

LOVE MY GARMIN FORERUNNER 305
Pros: easy to use, light weight, reliable
Now that I have a garmin my running is completely changed for the better. I couldn't imagine running without it and now understand other runners who said the same to me before I bought one.
It's easy to figure out how to use and I haven't had any problems with reaching a satellite signal pretty quickly (1-2 min at most) nor with accuracy.
It's bigger than a normal watch, but it's not heavy and I don't notice it while I'm running.
I haven't utilized some of the additional training features nor the heart rate monitor yet, but hope to integrate them soon once my training picks up.
Overall I would recommend a garmin to any runner who runs regularly and is interested in following their progress and not being restricted in where they run and know the distances.

AWESOME
This is a great value item. I bought a 201 when they first hit the scene and used it until I bought the 305. The 305 is a little bulkier but far superior at finding and tracking satellites. The 305 is comfortable and easy to read. I really like this product. I worried that my petite daughter (whom I bought on for as well) would reject the watch on size alone but she really likes this product. It is a home run!

LOVE IT!
Pros: wish the booklet had more instructions Cons: a little bulky
The GPS was on my '09 Christmas list my husband purchased it from GPScity, I love it! It gives me all the information I need and more. I love the heart rate monitor too, didn't think I would, but I do. To Melanie who is worried about putting water on the HR strap, you only need a drop or two of water for it to work, once you're outside the sweat takes over, lol... I run in -20c the HR strap hasn't been a problem at all as a matter of fact I don't even feel it....
Before having a GPS I used mapmyrun.com for informaton on my pace and such, I still use that site and download from the Garmin, gives me all kind of neat data and a map of where I've been :D ...
I haven't looked at the video yet, I have to do that, I'm sure there are a lot of things I don't know about it yet.
My husband says the service and shipping at time of sale both were excellent.

Pros: easy to use & set up Cons: a bit large

TAKES RUNNING TO HEART
Pros: nice size. firmware is pretty fast. accurate. Cons: i'm left handed. easy to overcome with use.
My Forerunner is more than expected. I have an Edge 305 that I will not leave home on a bike without. Hoping that the Forerunner would be an Edge with a wrist strap,it was on my Christmas list. It is not the same. the fore runner fits running perfectly. The fore runner has a small learning curve that is easily mastered with use. I highly recommend both units. excellent for training and great for comparing or tracking progress.

FORERUNNER 305
This is my first GPS and I love it. It's easy to use and does everything and more that I want it to do. It comes with 2 wrist straps. The smaller one broke. Garmin sent me out a new one right away. I haven't tried out the heart rate monitor yet, because you have to wet the sensors to create a connection between your pulse and the transmitter. It's below zero here and I don't want to wear something wet outside so I'm waiting until spring to try it out.
