GARMIN GPS 10X BLUETOOTH
I've worked with the GPS 10 before so I was familiar with its protocol. It worked as expected, well. Be sure to download manuals. Loaded a BlueSoliel driver then killed the driver (some issue with XP I think).

POOR OPERATION
Pros: none Cons: unstable
This item failed continuously when using it with Garmin's eNROUTE program on my Laptop. It would lose it's signal and try to recalculate regularily when on a route. Also, it will not support locked map programs. It uses a serial port input rather than USB which may be part of the problem. It doesn't come near to replacing your GPS as a receiver as Garmin says it will.

GOOD ENOUGH
Pros: works as advertised. Cons: expensive
This unit works "well", Nokia Smartphone E51 and PDA HP iPaq 210. It does not work with Garmins latest version of Mapsource, in my Toshiba laptop. I contacted Garmin, they recommended I use an older piece of software or theirs called Nroute.

GOOD COMPATIBILITY
Pros: very good battery life.
Works fine with Microsoft Streets and trips, Microsoft Autoroute, Franson GPSGate and GPSU. The mini USB power jack allows it to be recharged from either a laptop or a Motorola cell phone charger. Quick position fix in my personal car in North America, recently experienced very slow fix in a retal car in Europe. As with other GPS units, it seems to be affected by windshield coating found on some european cars. Works as advertized: it does not do much, but it does it well.

GARMIN GPS 10X BLUETOOTH RECEIVER
The only reason I'm not rating this a 5 is the price. It's pretty expensive. Technically it's an excellent unit. Really fast to get a location fix and does WAAS if your software knows how to enable and use it. If you need a GPS receiver that provides both NMEA and Garmin's proprietary data protocol, this one does it well.
It works with Mobile XT on my Palm T|X. It also works with Intelligolf (Eagle Edition) on my Palm T|X.
It works with Garmin's nRoute and Mobile PC on my laptop. It also works with Microsoft Streets&Trips 2008 and Mappoint 2009, DeLorme Street Atlas 2008, iNav iGuidance9 and Mapfactor Navigator8, all on my laptop.
