Features & Tips |
Here is a listing we have put together of some of the common Garmin GPS 18 PC features,
along with a few user tips that you may find of help for this particular item. | • WAAS-enabled; 12 parallel channel GPS receiver • Weight: 184.6g • Size: 61 mm dia. x 19.5 mm height • Serial interface: asynchronous serial input compatible with RS-232 or TTL voltage levels, RS-232 polarity • Powered through integrated 12-volt cigarette lighter adapter |
Very Important Note:
The OEM 18 GPS Series all require different input voltages (see list below):
• 18 USB: 4.4 - 5.5 Vdc
• 18 PC: 8 - 30* Vdc (Automotive supply from cigarette lighter jack)
• 18 LVC: 4.0 - 5.5 Vdc
* It should be noted that the OEM 18 PC unit has a cigarette lighter adapter end that converts the 12V DC (from the cigarette lighter power source) to the input voltage required by the GPS unit. If you remove the cigarette lighter end and then hard wire the GPS to the 12V power source, you WILL burn out the unit.
