GARMIN GPS 60

Works well but was a little more technical to figure out then I expected. It is easy to mark waypoints which is the reason I bought it. I'd recommend it with the comment that it might take a while to figure out how to use it to its maximum potential.

Review: I cannot say enough good things about the gps 60!! It picks up sats even inside office buildings ( was at doctors office of 5 story building on 3rd floor and had 4 sats). The case is rugged with true waterproof construction with rubber gaskits and seperate battery compartment. It has a solid feel that makes one not be afraid to drop it in the field. The user interface is outstanding and somewhat windows like. The display is crisp and has more than enough pixels. One thing to note if you are using a 3rd party topo program is that you will need to use the serial cable ( nto supplied) to download waypoints and routes not the usb cable supplied with the unit. This is true of delorme as I contacted delorme and the tech verified that data will only transmit from topo usa to gps 60 v9ia serial cable not usb. That is a minor thing as I found a ser cable online for only $13 shipped and ensured. The usb cable supplied works fine for garmin mapping software if you are ! getting that. I originally bought the lowrance ifinder pro thinking it was a better value, but sent it back due to cheap construction, lack of water proofing and fragile feel of unit. This is hands down the best buy in gps under $300. It does not have true mapping, but just try to pick up sats inside office buildings with the likes of etrex. why would I need them inside an office building? Well if it picks them up there, it will pick them up in heavy timber in the mountains where I ride/horse pack. Oh, the belt clip is great - no way to loose unit with it as you need to press a button to detatch it from your waist. Buy it if you don't need mapping and get the gps 60 map if you need maping - you will not regret it.
