It wasn't enough of a challenge this past summer to have a motorcyle ride certified, by the IBA, that carried me 1530 miles in about 22 hours -- only done, previously, by about 2300 other riders. It wasn't enough of a challenge to also have a motorcyle ride certified, by the IBA, that carried me 2100 miles in about 43 hours -- only done, previously, by about 1000 other riders.

I had to make the attempt to travel from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico -- and back -- in less than 72 hours. Something that had been certified as only been done by about 14 other motorcycle riders. Nearly 3000 miles, all told, in 72 hours.

Through Los Angeles, twice. Crossing the US/Mexico border, twice. Crossing the US/Canada border? Four times (once to get to the start point, and the ride back into home in Washington State).

At my side, my faithful Garmin nuLink 1695T and back-up 765T mounted, on my Honda Goldwing, with my RAM mounts and cradles. Helped me to plan getting through Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, and through LA at times to miss traffic. Helped plan-out the departure times, travel times and arrival times from my intermediate stop on the Central California coast (San Luis Obispo, CA -- where I went to college in the mid-late 1970s) on the way home. Even helped, by converting speed limits from mph to kph while riding in Canada, from coming home with documentation of my having BEEN in Canada, courtesy of the local constabulary!

About 20 hours of riding to get to the other end of Interstate 5, and about 25 hours to get back home. Plenty of time for rest, meals, (limited) sight seeing, seeing my boy just back from Afghanistan, and visiting the home that I lived in as a child.

What an experience!

ON THE TRAIL IN PINERY PROVINCIAL PARK

I got my Garmin nuvi 1350 for Father's day this year and liked it so much when I was driving that I also wanted to take it with me when I went biking with the family. So I went online and found the RAM Mount Garmin nuvi 1300 Bike Mount (RAP-274-1-GA34U) at gpscity.ca.

I was very impressed on how quickly it shipped, and how easy the product was to install. I've had the mount for a few weeks now and I love it! I've taken it on bike trails, and most recently on a camping trip to Pinery Provincial Park. Other people seem impressed with it too. The usual reaction when they see it is "Is that a GPS?....on your bicycle?"

I'm now looking for a camera mount so that i can take videos of the family bike rides. Looks like I might need a bigger handlebar for my bicycle...hahaha

GLEN'S NEW F800ST BMW

I use a SPOT for my off road bike, I use a GPS for my highway bike. So when I traided my old 1200 BMW for a new 800 I made it so I could take the SPOT off the trail bike and put it on the highway bike at the turn of a RAM screw. I control the two of them with my free hand and can still see speed, tach, GPS & SPOT at a glance.

Product works well, though I'd like to see some options made available rather than forcing one to buy items we don't need (I bought the low profile side holders and now I have the regular clamps - the ones automatically included with the order - doing nothing).

I'll agree with John to a point; the laptop doesn't block my view, but I think I'll cut down the pole down a bit to make it sit lower. I also found the instructions to be a bit vague at points and had some errors (you'll need a 10mm wrench to remove the seat bolts, not a 15mm). Nothing that should prevent anyone from completing the install, however.

Definitely a good buy!

SCOOTER TOURING WITH RAM MOUNT & NUVI 550
Pymatuning Lake
Pymatuning Lake

After searching for gas stations while touring along the Blue Ridge Parkway, calling for roadside assistance somewhere in Tennessee and not knowing exactly where I was at (Well, there's a cornfield on the left...a cornfield on the right, too. Does that help?), and having my meticulously compiled paper directions melt away in a thunderstorm four hours into a week-long tour, I figured I'd better get a GPS. I settled on a Garmin Nuvi 550.

After some research, I decided the RAM system turned out to be the best mounting solution. Solid, dependable, and clean looking. I've been using it for several years now without a single problem.

I just ordered up a mount for my motorcycle and will soon be ordering another one for my Spot II satellite messenger.

HOGSBACK LAKE

10/10/10 just happens to be my birthday. This year I visited with my sister who lives on a ranch in Vanderhoof, BC. Not being a "cacher" herself, she signed up and hunted up a unique cache for me. On that day, we saddled up the horses, trailered them up to the a point on the Telegraph trail and off we went, my trusty eTrex Venture HC safely in my saddle bag. Perfect day, cold clear, beautiful. With the co-ordinates for Hogsback Lake Multi Cache punched in, it brought me directly to the first stage and from there the 2nd and finally to the cache location.
Best caching day ever! A day spent with my sister, horseback riding in beautiful northern BC and picking up a great cache, excellent. Back at home in the Fraser Valley of BC I still smile thinking about that great day.

I recently bought the Nuvi 3790T to replace my Nuvi 760. I really like the 3790T for the screen resolution which is very nice and the speed of the redraw while navigating (no jaggy).

Like to have traffic info and thanks it's now working in Montreal! Now they just need to add the Jacques-Cartier and the Victoria bridges to the traffic data so we can track the traffic for these 2 bridges.

On photo 1 in the morning I plug the Nuvi into a AC-DC power outlet and while breakfast I can check the traffic before leaving home. On the other picture you can see some traffic information and my route to work.

I also like the traffic trend and mytrend features which give you route alternative to go back to destination.

Con:
The unit look to be fragile a bit so I take good care for not dropping it.

The screen is very nice but finger prints also like it !

I purchased a Motorcycle mount for my Garmin 765T and it worked better than I had hoped for. One of the features in the Garmin is to track the trip and download it into Map Source. This was the first trip with a group from work. I had no idea where we were going so to take the roads again would have been a stretch. With the GPS on the handle bar playing music through the radio and tracking the whole trip was a great experience.

The mount was absolutely the best, The mount was stable and adjustable as I had to make minor adjustments for comfort. Again thanks to the staff for your help and I have attached a couple of pics of our trip.

AWESOME MOUNTS!!!!

I searched around forever to find a mount for my GPS that I could use on both my bicycles, and my motorcycle. I enjoy riding long distances on both, and have been lost many times. But now that I have a new 11 month old daughter to tow behind me it is more important than ever to know where I am going!

I purchased the Ram Bicycle kit for mu NUVI 500 to attach to my commuter bicycle, and 2 more ball mounts. One for my Trek road race bike, and one for my 2000 Harley Davidson. I love this product on all three! Thanks Ram, and GPS city!

MOBILE OFFICE GEAR THAT CAN SAVE A LAPTOP

I use my 06 GMC Sierra Pick Up as a mobile office. I bought my Ram Laptop mount and phone cradle about 2 years ago. They have served me well. I am in sales and I traverse across rough terrain around construction sites like power plants and steel mills. After having my laptop hit the floor board a few times I knew it was time to seek a solution for securing it while it was running before it died a sure death. This setup is absolutely worth every penny. I have added the flat side leg keepers so I can shut the laptop while traveling. Common sense and company policy require the laptop to be in standby mode while traveling. The Ram Phone cradle is equally as tough as the laptop mount. It secures the phone in the roughest of terrain. Thank You RAM and GPS City for adding precious time to the life of my phone and laptop.

KAYAK RAM MOUNT

Just received my new RAM Mount and promptly attached it to my favorite boat. Here’s my Garmin eTrex Vista HCx attached to the kayak using the RAM Mount. I took it for a test spin this afternoon on Flint Creek. The viewing distance and accessibility were good. My main concern was that it would interfere with paddling or launching/landing. I was pleased when I completed the test run without bumping the GPS a single time. The mount was surprisingly solid and well made. Now I just need to save a few more bucks so I can add a mount to each of my other boats.

Mounted and ready to go

My husband and I decided to visit my family back home in Hinton, Alberta. I hadn't seen them in over 10 years. We were travelling by car from St. Catharines, Ontario. We knew we would need a GPS or else we would end up taking forever and probably get lost somewhere.

That GPS made the trip sooooo much better. Not only did it help us find food and gas stops, we never got lost and always took the shortest distance to get anywhere. It was such a relaxing drive across the country thanks to our GPS.

I purchased RAM mounts for my 765T to mount to my 2002 Honda CBR1100XX SUPERBLACKBIRD. The Ram sits on a ball mount in the centre of my top bridge.

Why the long 5.25 socket arm? So I can see the gps over my tank bag.

When it rains, I just lean the gps on the long arm forward further forward under my windscreen. Works like a damn. Haven't had to use my sandwich bag cover yet.

Now I have no excuse getting lost when the leaders turn right and I turn left like I did in BC this July. I still ended up in Trail, I just went through Nelson, and Salmo, the long scenic rainy other way. he he. Enjoy.

Recently purchased a Garmin Nuvi 765T, but didn't like the windshield mount that came with the unit. I wanted to find a way to mount the unit to the center console in my 2002 Toyota Tacoma, but at first I was having a difficult time finding the solution.

Fortunately, I came across GPS City, and within a few minutes I found exactly what I needed - - The RAM Mount with Screw Down Plate for the Garmin Nuvi 7xx series (Model RAM-B-138-GA26U). The GPS City web site had all the information I needed to make my decision, such as diagrams, measurement details, and great videos that demonstrate and explain the product very well. I found the videos also helped to give me a better idea of the overall physical appearance and characteristics of the RAM Mount.

I elected to go with the Screw Down Plate, because even though my truck is already 9 years old, I don't have any plans of getting rid of it within the next few years (these days not having a car payment is great!). So for that reason, I don't mind having a three small holes in the console.

The first photo shows the area on my Tocoma's forward center console where I planned to install the unit, just below the radio. The Screw Down Plate of the RAM Mount has the perfect size to fit nicely on the small square area just forward of the 4X4 shift lever. Note the two spare cigarette lighter style power jacks, one of which would be used for my Garmin, and the other would still be free for other uses.

The second photo shows the completed installation, with my Garmin Nuvi in place.

The third photo (although a little hard to see) shows a right side view of the installation. I used velcro cable ties to bundle the Garmin power cord and FM unit along the "neck" of the RAM Mount. The excess power cabling has been tucked under the center console.

This weekend I took my first short trip to a nearby state park with new Garmin and RAM Mount setup. I am very pleased with the RAM Mount, and impressed by it's stability. The RAM Mount's rubber ball joints allow for a wide variety of adjustments and angles, but also deliver a system that is rock solid and there is no slipping of the ball joints once the unit is tightened.

The location where I installed this setup worked out to have an additional advantage... I can rest my hand on the 4X4 shift knob, while my index finger has an easy reach to the Garmin unit's touch screen.

I would strongly recommend RAM Mounts to anyone needing a mounting system that is flexible, has very high quality materials, and a great price. Thanks GPS City and RAM Mounts!!

Benelux and more....

Our road trip through Europe began on April 27/09 with the pick up of our Ford Kuga at CDG airport in Paris. With our new Garmin Nuvi 270 what could go wrong? We chose the lady with a Britsh accent over the one with the New Jersey accent. She sounded kinder, sweeter, less opinionated should we mess up. We dubbed her 'Penelope' Penny for short. Away we went to Versailles, Normandy, Honfleur, Vimy Ridge, Brugges, Kloosterzander, Vlissingen, Antwerp, Brussels, Luxembourg, Dijon, Lyon, and finally six days later, Valence. Does anyone actually know there are three towns in France all with the name of Valence? Well we found out the hard way as Penny guided us to the wrong one! Fornutatly we were also following the map and realized our mistake. After several hours going down one lane roads, multiple round a bouts and a standard stick shift with shifting required every couple hundred feet, we managed to find the correct highway. We did find our house before dark, luckily!

At the house we had in the south of France for the week, we decided to lay low. That lasted all of a day before we took off for lunch in Italy, five hours drive away. It was great and so was observing Monaco from the view point high up. One suggestion - don't willing drive through Monaco with a standard. It was suicidal! We skipped Nice altogether so traumatized were we from Monaco. Antibes and Cannes was much better, kind of the Rodeo Drive of southern France.

We saw Provence, Avignon, Nimes, Pont du Gard, and Switzerland all by the end o the week there. Penny, our GPS, saw us through many a tight spot where we thought we'd never get out of. Cities have a tendancy to get you into them but provide little direction to get you out!! Must have something to do with tourism.

The drive back to Paris was uneventful, but not inexpensive. Does anyone really know how expensive those toll highways are really going to be until you get on them? But, they beat going through towns every 10 miles. The car was turned in unharmed, yeay!! and goodbye to Benelux. thank you Penelope!

Here we have the RAM-B-316-1U, RAM-B-230U, RAM-B-201U, and a RAM-B-202AU attached to a standard point and shoot digital camera. I frequently take my car to the race track, and I record my speedometer as well as my tachometer when on the track. The mount of course is not limited to just recording your dashboard gauges, you can always install a few extension pieces and the mount will be tall enough to record the car driving through the front windshield.

Using the mount when it is installed correctly (which takes less than 5 minutes with the correct size socket wrench) is extremely easy. You can always adjust where the camera is looking by loosing the knob on any arms you have attached. The whole setup is very solid, but make sure your base is not lose or else you will run into vibration and movement while recording.

The same mount is not just limited to camera use, it can be used with any RAM cradle to be used with GPS, phones, or anything you can think of!

Here are some pictures of both the camera setup installed in an Infiniti G35, as well as a Nuvi 660 installed onto the same mount, minus the extension pieces.

WASHINGTON STATE, AUSTRALIA?

My Hyundai Tuscon has the perfect mount for our nuvi 660. (See the attached photos).

But I am delighted to know that even a gps can make an error. We refer to our nuvi as 'Karen' since we use her Australian voice. Recently, while traveling in Washington state, Karen stated that in one half mile turn right onto "western Australia 405". I always wanted to visit Australia, but didn't know it could be done so inexpensively!

RAM IN CAR MOUNT WITH PRINTER IN 2005 FORD F150

I mounted this laptop and printer in my 2005 Ford F-150 for GIS & GPS tracking. I did add the swivel for more passenger room. It works like a charm, problem free.

RAM UBOLT MOUNT WITH GARMIN GPS V ON A 1997 HONDA XR600RV MOTORCYCLE

Hi, this is my setup. I am using a Garmin GPS V deluxe and RAM mount model #RAM-B-149-GA2U on my 1997 Honda XR600RV. I have been using it for 2-3 yrs now and it has been a flawless setup. The gps is connected via a custom waterproof 12v power outlet I mounted behind headlight and custom battery installation. My previous unit was a GPS III Plus using same mount. My next unit will be the Garmin Quest with new cradle and again the same mount. All of which I purchased through GPS CITY. THANKS GPS CITY!

P.S. 1st pic taken at Alto Pit OHV area in Arizona, 2nd and 3rd pic taken at Stoddard Wells OHV area in So. Cal.
