FANTASTIC ALL ROUNDER

Pros: good in sunlight
Cons: internal battery went dead after 4 years

This is my second 276c unit - both from gpscity.com - and I have 3 512 cards (also from gpscity.com) I use the 276c everyday and the second unit on my motorcycle - adventure riding and it's a pity that Garmin are discontinuing the unit.

I HAD THIS FOR 5 YEARS

Cons: a little hard to find addresses

I owned this unit for 5 years or so. I have the marine charts loaded and used in the car as well. It was recently stolen from my car and I really miss it. Perfect match if you also own a boat. I used both marine maps and road maps all the time. Does not hold a large area (more than one or two states) for the street maps.

Will likely buy a new one..

GOOD SNOWMOBILE GPS

Pros: good screen size for intended use
Cons: have to purchase memory and maps

This product is used for both marine and snowmobile purposes in our area. I bought it for use on snowmobile with it's good sized screen and good map detail capability. You have to buy additional memory and maps for it though if you want good map detail. I bought a 512 card.

GARMIN 276C

I've owned a couple of other units by Garmin Units that do more than one thing like depth sounder and chart plotter. This unit is simple to use and understand. The dangerous depths are clearly marked in pink, it's so easy to stay out of trouble on the water.

GPS CITY gave me great service too. When I realized I'd made a mistake buying the other unit, they helped me to replace with the 276C.

The screen's a bit small but aside from that, this unit rocks!

The 276C has an awesome screen refresh rate. Nearly instantaneous when panning or zooming. The 2 serial ports has made this ideal for APRS operation. This allows me to configure this for standalone operation with the Kenwood D700 (port 1) and create a second connection for UIview and any other TNC/radio combination I desire. This is a great unit.

- Versatile screen configurations

- Fast update rates.

- Flexible Serial configurations (2 comm ports)

- Boat and or Auto operation.

Great tool, I would recomend it. Just a couple of issues , the two data ports do not work at the same time. I wanted to upload routes on one port and have NMEA going out the other. My machine occasionaly turns off, comes right back up, but it is a little disconcerting.
