GOOD MID RANGE UNIT
Pros: very easy to update software to unit from garmin
Cons: need better maping for canada
used it for 3 months everyday took a little work getting sounder set properly to my boat to read depth and accurecy elsewise everything else works great at last i got a unit that works at all speeds of my boat

GARMIN 521S MARINE GPS
Pros: good quality hardware
Cons: no depth transducer, no useful base map.
A good piece of hardware, but I am dismayed by the poor quality of Base Map. Advertising says you can use it for navigation, but it does not appear to be useful without purchased maps. Expect to pay a few dollars for useful mapping. I expected a transducer in the box, since it is sold as a 521s (for sounder), but there was none.
Recommend? NO OPINION

Pros: gps accuracy, available maps, sounder accuracy
Cons: non
Very happy with this product - it has all the features (and then some) neccessary for a GPS fishfinder combo

GREAT EXPECTATIONS AND VERY SATISFIED
Pros: pros: update speed, clarity of image, weather sat
Cons: windows accessed via menu rather than cycle
The 521S was a replacement for a 10 year old Garmin 160. I am very pleased with the performace and capabilities. I have not yet installed the satellite weather antenna, nor the depth finder. However, I have seen the satellite weather on another unit and expect it to fantastic for gunkholing in this 200 mile long "remote" area of the US with severe storms.
