LIMITED MAP CAPABILITIES
Pros: lots of features Cons: limited map storage, battery life, slow map render
A great GPS unit except for: 1. The battery life seems to be shortened with the camera use compared with the previous 60 series unit it replaces 2. While the GPS is capable of holding an 8 GB MicroSD card the GPS unit itself has a limit on the number of maps it can store. I reached this limit and unfortunately was unable to load all the maps I paid for and wanted to install. I assume this may be applicable to all Garmin units. 3. It appears the more maps loaded, the slower the maps get rendered. 4. the lack of an external antennae hookup is disappointing as I like to turn my machine on all day and keep it in a ziplok bag in a pocket with the external antennae exposed to gather track log locates while I am in heavy bush cover or in rainy weather.

Pros: user friendly, lots of memory Cons: a bit difficult to look at with the sunlight
I have been playing with my new GPSMAp 62 stc, very easy to use, did not have a chance to test it out on a atv ride, waiting for the snow to melt. Very quick to obtain satellite info, love the different tools to navigate that is provided, especially the re-calculate on the road.

TOUGH DOWNLOAD
Pros: tons of features Cons: cumbersome data downloads.
I purchased this unit for work, we do a lot of trail work and I wanted the ability to gps the trail, take photos of issues along the trail, save the photos as waypoints and download them as such. The new system of saving data in two locations is cumbersome to deal with, normally we return, hook into Google Earth and download all in one shot, this unit has tracks, waypoints and photos stored in seperate locations, so you must go and search for the information, again cumbersome. I was going to return it but I had it out in the field testing it and severly scratched the screen (while in my pack), so I will keep it. The screen issue is something else that should be looked at, if it is that soft, maybe a protective cover should be an option. As far as a GPS for route finding, etc. it works as well as the 60 series in which it replaces. I do NOT like the carabiner, much prefer the belt clip option of the 60 series, moving through the bush with this one banging around is not nice, not to mention what may be happening to the sensitive viewing screen.
