INLAND ONTARIO LAKES NEED A BIT OF WORK YET.
Pros: contours are accurate, but ..... Cons: several major ontario lakes are not detailed
I'm more than a bit disappointed with the Inland Lakes Canada Ontario maps card which I have purchased for my Garmin GPSmap 60Cx. The lakes that are charted are accurate, but, there are some strange omissions. Three of the four Cdn Great Lakes are detailed but why not Superior? Details are also missing for Simcoe, Couchiching, Nipissing and Lac de Chats to name a few. Recently, while out on Lake Erie, there were lots of contour lines, but once we passed the break walls at Port Maitland into the Grand River, nada, even though the river is fairly wide and 20 feet deep in the main channel. Out on the lake, I found it almost impossible to follow the "bread-crumb trail" because of the underwater contour lines. The screen on the handheld 60Cx seems to be too small to read or interpret the underwater contour lines unless zoomed in and then I can't "see far enough ahead." However, I don't have the same trouble with the topo maps because I can use them further zoomed out I have been using Garmin's TOPO Canada maps with my Garmin GPSmap 60Cx for the past four years. The topo maps seem to be a bit more user friendly because their attention to detail and their accuracy. I have found them more than adequate for finding my way back to the boat launch or re-tracing the "bread-crumb trail" around or over a mid-lake shoal of a new lake. I might shop around for a new mounted GPS (with a larger screen) that will take both memory cards, together or individually.
[Ed. note: The better charts for the Great lakes region is the Bluecharts Canada card (HXCA015R). The lakes you mentioned are part of that card plus all the great lakes.]

DO NOT BUY-MAPS ARE A COMPLETE RIP OFF
Cons: doesn"t work as you would expect it to
I tried installing on a 1490t NUVI. It shows outline of lakes and not much more. It appears that maps aren't compatbile with NUVI and many devices (which is stated on their website, but wasn't obvious to me when I purchased).
Garmin refuses to issue refunds -- buyer beware. But highly advise against wasting your money. Get a chart plotter or find another solution.

GARMIN INLAND LAKES CANADA, ONTARIO
Pros: proper maps of the area should be popular. Cons: the maps have missed their target.
Unfortunately this map does not include detailed marine, navigational maps for the major lake districts of Ontario. Ontario is blessed with many hundreds of navigable lakes that are relatively close to Toronto and other major, Ontario cities. They include the Muskoka lakes (three large, interconnected lakes) Lake of Bays and many more.

NOT AS SHOWN ON GARMIN WEBSITE
Pros: non Cons: non
When I went to the Garmin website to view this product it does show depths and structure pictures to show you what this map program will look like on your handheld gps. I have used it on two lakes and it only shows an outline of each lake.. Not at all what I expected.Too much money for a product that did not show what I had bought it for. Should be able to return it because it is not as Garmin show's on their website. Come on Garmin you can do better!

VERY DISAPPOINTED
I have to agree with most other reviews. What a waste. Detailed shorelines only for Nipissing, Kawartha lakes, Simcoe, Rice, plus many more? These are some pretty significant bodies of water, come on Garmin! Do your research before you buy and makes sure the lakes you usually go to have depth contours, b/c most of the lakes we use, as listed above are not.http://www8.garmin.com/cartography/inland/canada_lists/Ontario.pdf This link will give you all the info you need.

OK
I was looking for maps of major inland lakes to give me the same information I had on my Bluewater Marine charts with a unlock code for the Great lakes region, but none of the major lakes (Ex: Lake Nipissing) were covered by this Micro SD chip I just purchased from you. So I was disappointed !

ONTARIO LAKES
Pros: works well Cons: missing popular lakes
Haven't had a chance to use it yet, however I have noticed that it has depths & info on the Sauble River which hardly anyone uses due to its terrible access (with many rocks) to Lake Huron, but there is no info on Rice Lake which is a very popular lake east of Toronto, hopefully this lake & Simcoes are updated soon. Loads & works well though. I would rate it higher if there were more lakes on it, can't believe Rice is not on it

CANADA LAKES
Pros: none Cons: did not download at all
It did not load properly on my 450T and could not check it until I was up in the woods out of internet range. My brother had an older Oregon with it loaded and he could not get it to work either. I purchased a 450TC with Canada topo, a North America City Navigator SD, and had to remove the City Navigator and disable on the GPS in order for just the topo to work properly. With no manuals and up in a no internet zone this was a dissapointing experience. This is my 5th Garmin and 3rd handheld.

MARINE MAPPING
haven't really used this yet on my Nuvi 550 yet except tojust test it out. There are a couple of lakes in my area, North West Ontario that are on it but I haven't been on them yet. Just from looking at it though it looks like it will work just fine.

TIT FOR TAT
Pros: covered lakes Cons: missing lakes
First of all, anything on Bluecharts (Simcoe, lakes around Rideau Canal, etc...) is not covered on this map which makes it a bit of a pain. I feel Garmin is ripping people off by not clearly stating this.
There's also a lot of lakes either completely missing or with no detail and that are not on Bluecharts. e.g. Lady Evelyn Lake is there with lots of detail but Tupper and Hobart Lakes (that connect to Evelyn) are completely missing????
The lakes that I've paddled on that were covered - were covered very well e.g. Lingham Lake with it's multitude of islands and rocks.
My brother who was using a free downloaded version of a topo had almost as much detail minus the depth but showed more lakes.
Buying the map on a SD card made plotting routes really hard because I had to use my Legend's little screen to do it.
Overall I’m not entirely impressed with the Garmin Inland Lakes, Canada, Ontario, considering the price and lake coverage. If you don’t have a bunch of money to spend on maps I would suggest buying the latest topo. While they too seem to have a lot missing information and generally lag with updates. From what I’ve seen they generally offer good all-round coverage of city, lakes and rural areas, which is why I would recommend a Topo over Inland Lakes.

WORKS OK
I wish they would produce a map with both marine mapping and topographic mapping on the same chip. I don't like to have to switch between topographic and marine especialy with cold fingers. I don't like that between the listed maps is just blank area, they should show all the lakes even the ones without depth charts.

NOT GOOD FOR NORTH WESTERN ONTARIO
Pros: call garmin to see if detailed maps for your lake Cons: very incomplete everywhere, based on other reviews
Our two main lakes, Lake of the Woods and Rainy Lake have no reefs marked or depths, (my topo maps even have some of the rocks marked) despite being listed within the set. In fact the only two I could find in this area that had the depth contours was Kabetogama (sp? on the Minnesota side) and Burdette. After speaking with Garmin it seem you need to buy the Lake of the Wood and Rainy set, that includes 50 some other lakes, all of which are on the US side of the border, and this set. Then $220 later you still won't have them all. Before buying this product contact Garmin and see if it has detailed info on any of the lakes you want. Sad, to say the least that they market this as a Ontario set and only have shorelines marked, and even that is not complete. When we drove the boat from Footprint to Jackfish it shows us going over the land for 1/2 a mile.

NOT TOO BAD
Cons: micro sd card
This product works well and the description of it tells exactly what it has on it. The only thing I do not like about it is the fact it is on a micro SD card and my other map software is on CD. I am an avid kayaker and fisherman and am off road all the time, it is very difficult to plan a trip and carry the right gear when you are flipping between SD cards, but other than that I have gotten much use out of software so far.

MISSING A LOT OF INFO
Pros: detailed info where coverage is included Cons: missing too many inland lakes
I was surprised to find many major inland lakes (Muskoka, Rosseau, Joseph, Simcoe) missing any depth information whereas there is detailed info on many very small lakes. Although there is depth info on Georgian Bay no info has been included for Collingwood harbour area which is a bit dissapointing.

NOT BAD, BUT MUCH MISSING
Pros: accurate outline of lakes and islands. Cons: canals missing, depth missing on many lakes
Although this map seems to have most lakes, there are many major lakes missing any depth information. Both the Rideau lakes and Muskoka lakes are missing depth information. The maping is also missing the Trent/Severn and Rideau Canal system details. No locks marked and the river sections are not marked. What is done well though is the lakes where depth information is available and most Islands and many marinas are marked.
I hope future updates will be more complete.
