50 METERS OFF IN ITALY
Pros: good aid Cons: 50 meters
We arrived in Rome and I was anxious to see if my GPS would work. After standing on the side walk outside our hotel and wandering the streets the GPS did not recieve satelite reception. It was not until the middle of Vatican Square did the GPS recieve a signal. Divine intervention maybe.
While exiting Rome heading to Sicily the GPS wanted us to make a left turn on a road 50 meters ahead at that point we were stopped at a traffic light first car in line and I noticed we were already at the intersection. That distance seemed to plague us the entire 2000 km trip. It may not seem like a large distance but when you are adjusting for traffic and intersections that are close together we heard the dreaded recalulating more than we wanted to. Traffic circle directions worked fine.
I do not think that the GPS should replace a good map and old navigating practices of finding your way around Europe on rural roads by always knowing the next town or city on your route. Between new technology and old driving habits we made our way to every destination. When we returned home the GPS again worked fine without the 50 meter error.

GOOD MAPS
Pros: good maps
the maps are good, although some new constructions already appeared but yet to be completed. if there are overpasses or overlying bridges for certain streets, the GPS cannot tell and will mislead. otherwise very good maps, but like Garmin North America, it may not show the shortest route or the best route.

EUROPEAN MAP
First, our map was the 2010 map version, not the 2011 or 2012 version. We used it in France & Belgium for a two week period and used it regularly for our travels. Our experience with this product was mixed in that for the most part it worked very satisfactorily, however in several situations it either: -sent us the wrong direction on a major autoroute (to Mont St Michel instead of to Caen). -directed us into a farmers field which just happened to parallel an autoroute. -directed us to go toward Bayeux France when we were travelling to Honfleur. -gave us an exit road number from a round-about that didn't match the exit number for that road (ie take the second exit to N214 when in fact N214 was the third exit. To ensure that we were on the correct road we had to either use a map in concert with the GPS or pay particular attention to both the highway numbers and the round-about exit number. The French pronunciation of the individual speaking the directions really needs to improve significantly. I speak some French and I couldn't make out many of the town, village or street/road names and many times had to physically look at the GPS to determine what was actually being said. We found much humour in the pronunciation. However, despite the foregoing we would use it again as it proved overall to be a very useful device for us, and for the most part got us to our destination.

GARMIN MICROSD FOR EUROPE NT 2011
The streets for Europe are OK, but I came across several roads around Brugge, Belgium and in the Normandy area of France were not up to date. I was still able to get around as the roads were not changed too much. The Brugge roads seemed to be under construction for a while, so I would have guessed some of the changes should have been in the latest microSD card that I purchased. Overall though a good buy.

I'D HAVE BEEN LOST WITHOUT IT.
Pros: very comprehensive. Cons: forced use of street names and numbers.
I actually just returned from Europe (France, Germany and Switerland ealier this evening having driven between 2500 and 3000 kilometers over a 3 week period. The European Street Map chip was a life saver. While it is not perfect, the vast majority of my problems related more to my lack of familiarity with the languages and the road and street systems in the countries I visited. Things can get confusing when you have 5 or 6 exits off a round about in a busy city but I always managed to get where I was going. The one change I would make on all maps is to make the main street the first option when you are trying to find a town and are forced to enter a street name and number. The chip can not be expected to account for construction and as in Canada spring and summer is construction season. Sometimes that detour can lead to a wonderful discovery that you might otherwise have not found. You still need good local maps, if only for the proper spelling of towns and streets, but I would not venture to Europe without the City Navigator Europe.

USE OF EUROPE MAP IN ITALY
Pros: product worked well in france two years ago Cons: waste of money for italy
The ability to identify the names of streets made this product useless in Rome (colliseum area) and even more useless in Venice. We did not bother to even take our gps out of its case in Florence. The local street maps did a good job. Someone should put some effort into inputing street names for Italy - and they need to be spelled in italian. English spellings don't work when one is reading the street signs off the corners of the buildings.

DISAPPOINTING STREET MAPPING
Pros: ok when used with a reasonably good map. Cons: out of date, absurd recommended routes.
We bought what was apparently the most up-to-date version of Garmin's maps of Europe in February and used them in southern Portugal later that month. Based on the directions recommended it was clear that the maps were far from up to date. For example a well paved road well over a couple years old wasn't even on the map. As well some of the recommended routes were absurd: a simple right turn was ignored and a left turn with a subsequent U-turn recommended???

CITY NAV EUROPE NT 2011
Pros: was very helpful 90 % of the time, but when it let Cons: see above
We used this product for 6 weeks through 8 countries. It was worse than useless in Spain but very helpful almost everywhere else except for the annoying use of streetnames instead of highway numbers.Streetnames are not posted for roads and highways that pass through a town or city, only numbers. In Spain the program frequently lost track of where we were and on a few occassions took us many miles out of our way and then simply stopped working, leaving us out in the literal "middle-of-nowhere".(This was while we were using the "where-to" function. It would also frequently shut down while using round-abouts and was unable to calculate our route any further. Very annoying. It was also very slow in indicating where we needed to turn, often leaving us to make guesses because it couldnt upload quickly enough.

This was my first time driving in Europe. The maps and GPS took me perfectly from Brussels airport to a small town in the Netherlands. EUROPE CITY NAVIGATOR 2011
Pros: better than reading a map. Cons: not as up to date as a 2011 version should be.
This made driving through southern France easier than reading maps, but there are a couple of drawbacks to the 2011 map. First, the information was frequently inaccurate, in that it didn't recognize major highways and arterials that have been in use for at least 18 months. The second is that the synthesized voice's pronunciation was so terrible the street names were often unrecognizable. I really needed to focus on the street names printed on the Garmin's screen.

GPS WORKED GREAT.
Pros: easy to use. works in many languages.
Used the City Navigator on our recent trip to Europe. For the most part it worked well in Italy, Slovenia and Hungary. It got a little confused in Budapest. We were on some narrow streets between very tall buildings. It seemed to get ahead of us. We would be stopped in a line of cars and it would be telling us to turn and we went around in circles for a bit. It's nice that if you go off course it will recalculate for you. We also lost the satellite on occasion especially in the tunnels, but it came back quickly. We felt we could rely on it to get us where we were going.Like the fact it shows you arrival time, speed limits, It eliminates the need for maps or printing instructions from Map Quest or Google. Will definitely use it at home and abroad.

GARMIN CITY NAVIGATOR EUROPE NT 2011
Pros: good for travel between cities, (usually) Cons: city navigation was marginal at best.
For getting from Town A to Town B this item is the way to go. Sometimes. For getting to actual locations within a town or city it could become your worst nightmare. Getting us hopelessly lost in Granada trying to find the Alhambra (Spain's number 1 tourist destination), the GPS stating "Re- calculating, Recalculating" over and over sounding almost frantic). Oh yes, and then there was the goat trail over the Pyrenees that added 2 1/2 hours to our drive because the GPS chose it over the main road. It was interesting. Despite the frequent nightmares I'd still rate it as Average. But be prepared to cross reference with road maps and highway/street signs rather than rely solely on this item.

Pros: very easy to use. Cons: must indicate a street name and not just a city.
I just came back from 2 weeks in England. I have been in England many times before and was previously using a big Road Atlas. This time I have used the Garmin GPS (people call them Sat-Nav in England) and it was great. There are many small lanes in the U.K. and these were indicated as well. I have also used the feature to find lodging, restaurant and post office, and it was very helpfull. Since there are some addresses with no street name or number (only the name of the house and the town), I used the Post Code which would bring me in the right viscinity. I will never travel in Europe without it.

5000 KM IN ITALY GARMIN MICROSD CNEUROPE NT 2011
Pros: generally accurate allows you to enjoy the trip Cons: rare inaccuracies
My wife and I just completed a 3 week, 5000km driving trip through Italy with our Garmin 255W and the CNE NT 2011 card that took us all over Italy including Sicily. I would not like to do this without the GPS. And would recomend this map card.
It was particularly good at getting us through small towns (with many one-way streets) or to destinations (hotels, tourist destinations, banks, service stations etc.) The map was mostly very accurate. Rare mistakes such as incorrect road labeling, and incorrect number of exits from round-abouts (likely because of very recent changes to road) was observed. On two instances, it attempted to direct us the wrong way on a one-way street (ie in Lecca). In a few instances (3-4 times over whole trip), we followed directions to hotels that did not exist. A few times the Garmin took longer than normal to upload maps on startup-not sure if this was the GPS unit or because the unit was as a card. Make extra sure you enter the destination you want, there are towns/villages/destinations with same names in different regions. Also, using the 'Shortest distance' setting can take you on some pretty obscure roads that make life interesting but can add considerably to the driving time. (on one occasion it directed us down a small road that started out well but led to a 'dead-end', tiny 'cow-path of a road' that required me to reverse out as there was no turn-around room)

GREAT FOR ITALY'S WINDING STREETS
Pros: maps are very current and accurate
We are currently touring Italy by car and foot. Many of the streets are narrow, winding and have poor markings indicating street names. Street names often change as well every few blocks in some cases. There are also many areas in old historic parts of towns that are limited traffic zones and those who drive on these roads face costly fines. We foound the Garmin microSd City Navigator of Europe invaluable for navigating through these tricky mazes.I would recommend this to anyone planning on travelling to Europe on there own without a guide.

HOPELESS IN SPANISH TOWNS DITCH "SAMANTHA"
Pros: good on highways, use american female - clear. Cons: garbled spanish by "samantha", don't use in towns.
While the card is fine on highways, it's inept in towns: reason: it doesn't know one way streets. If a Michelin map (6 euros) can show one way streets why can't Garmin? Cordoba and Seville are ancient cities but they do function. However with Samantha and her utterly horrible Spanish directing you to turn into one way streets that are against you, you soon find yourself in deep doo doo. Also getting from the East of Seville to the airport should be an easy task - that's the side the airport is on. But we were sent past the airport sign to the next exit, entering 2 roundabouts (in rush hour) in order to return to the highway now in the opposite direction then exit where we passed the sign, go under the highway to join the road that Garmin had us miss in the first place! Does that make sense?

TEXT TO SPEECH MISSING
Cons: poor text to speech capabilities
I just arrived in Germany, and before I came,I purchased the Europe NY Sim Card for a Garmin 760 Nuvi. Since I do not have a car, I am using it to walk around the city I came to, Bochum. I found that the text to speech directions are missing, and I am not happy. This is why I purchased the Garmin Nuvi for this specific option. In the US this Garmin was ok. even though it took you on tangents, but the European version is difficient. De. R. H. Fish

AMAZING THAT...
Amazing that the country names are listed in a country's language. For example, I had to guess it was Belgium 'cause it was written in Netherlands. Was also surprised that it was not up-to-date with a major new highway that is now completed but that had been under construction for quite a while 30 minutes away from Amsterdam. That was 2 weeks ago, one week after my purchase.
Anyway, I used it in Germany, Belgium and Holland, and overall it was fine.

EUROPE NT 2010 CARD WITH ADAPTER
Pros: for that price a very very good product Cons: no cons
I knew the product Nuvi 760 from trucking in canada. It was so simple to use the SD card for Europe. Just plug it in the slot and the 760 was coming up by itself asking "change country?" after pressing "Where to" It worked totally satisfying. But better always check on a map too, because sometimes it send you a ridicoulous route.

USELESS IN SWITZERLAND
Very very poor maps of Switzerland, little to zero use in rural areas, made even worse by continual loss of coverage due to high terrain and many tunnels. When coverage was available it frequently wanted to send us via side roads vice the motorway. Do not rely on getting around using just GPS, you will need a map. NOTE: spousal friction generated by this unit will reach a peak after approx 3 days use, and will cause you to deposit same (the GPS that is, the spouse wouldn't fit) in the glovebox for the remaining duration of your journey... :)

KEEP REGULAR MAPS NEARBY
Generally the GPS was a "lifesaver" in the U.K. and Spain - very helpful. The spanish street names were not understandable when spoken by "Samantha" in English - but were hilarious to listen to! Would suggest always having an overview handy from a regular print map - because the system is not infallible, and you need that overview! Would NEVER go back to just using printed maps.

When the maps loaded properly into my GPS they were accurate and extremely helpful. However, on several occasions although the card had not been removed from the GPS, the maps were not recognized. MICROSD - EUROPE MAP
Pros: worked well when it worked Cons: component failed
A product that seems to work in a reasonable manner, when it worked. There was some issues with sending us in a perpetual circle. Also in big and old cities such as Rome it tried, on occasion, to send us down one-way streets, the wrong way. It also sent us down some very rural farm roads in Switzerland (but very scenic) The major issue is the GPS failed in heavy highway traffic costing us a number of frustrating hours of 'lost' driving. Had to stop and buy maps to get to our destination. Replaced the supplied adapter that the mircoSD plugs into and it worked again. Recommend the software solution as opposed to this plug and play hardware solution.
Have contacted gpscity about the issue but they have not responded to my concern.

ENGLAND STREET MAPS
Pros: has every road, spoken directions, clear maping Cons: i'd like total mileage displayed, not just nxt tur
We've just returned from 21 days in England. Drove about 1,000 miles and used this chip every day in our Garmin 550- C. Although I've driven in England for about 12 years, the addition of the Garmin GPS and maps this year was invaluable, and I highly recommend it. We got the chip which included all of Europe, and I was concerned there might not be enough detail for England. That was not the case. We don't do large cities. Spend all our time at B&B's in small towns and out in the country. Every little lane and road was included. Approaching the round abouts, it was extremely usefull to have "Sir Reginold" (our English accented GPS) tell us (for example) to enter the round about and turn left at the third exit. It was like having a very experienced local person giving you turn by turn instructions. I used it every day, and dindn't leave my parking area without turning it on. When we arrived at each B & B, I entered the B & B by name in "favorite places." Then, no matter where I had driven to during the day, I just entered the B&B as our destination, and I got turn by turn spoken directions back to our B& B. It was also useful for finding gas stations, ATM's, food shopping, historical sites, places of interest. I couldn't recommend it any more highly. Having used it, I would have paid twice the price.

EXCELLENT ALL THE WAY!
This little SD card Europe NT 2010 was an incredible help. From Rome Airport I got in to my rental card and put the SD card in my 255W Garmin and put the address of my hotel in Napoli and the map took me right at the door of my hotel! Unbelievable! Buying this SD Card was the best thing. Driving in Italy is very special since the road are very narrow and there are Scooters passing you on the letf and on the right every minute. Make sure you do program your Garmin to take the Highway and not the small road. If the setting is done correctly there is no problem and it is very easy to do so. Imagine me, I was able to do it and I don't know nothing about these electronic devises. So, if I can do it, you will be able to do it! This SD card work as good as the North American map, exactly the same unless you did not set the information right. Have a good trip!

GARMIN CITY NAVIGATOR EUROPE NT 2010

A MUST WHEN TRAVELING BY CAR IN EUROPE
I acquired the Garmin microSD City Navigator Europe NT Card with adaptor from GPSCity for our trip to Italy in June 2009. The card was delivred promptly and installation was straightforward (essentially, putting the microSD card in the Nuvi 760 and turning it on). I was able to prepare the trip before leaving, by entering the information on hotels, airports and other destinations. With this set of maps, our Nuvi 760 took us from Rome to Alberobello in southern Italy, with stops in Napoli, Pompeii and Ruvo di Puglia. In Napoli, our hotel was in an old part of the city but the GPS took us through a complicated layout of highways, paytolls and narrow streets with no difficulty. Overall, the mapping was accurate. The speed limit information was generally accurate (with a few exceptions). There were a few occasions in Puglia where the GPS took us on side roads for no apparent reason but, overall, this set of maps was very useful and was the basis for most of our navigation. The first time I turned on the GPS in Rome, it took a long time for the unit to find its position. Thereafter, the unit worked normally.

WORKS AS ADVERTISED
Pros: easy to load Cons: not euro address friendly, many "roads" missing
I have a Gramin Zumo 550 with North America as the base map. I recently traveled to the UK on business and required local directions. I ordered the SD Micro with all of Europe as opposed to just the UK. For the price difference I couldn't see the reason for not getting the full suite. It arrived in 3 days and loaded without incident. Plug it in and "presto". Europe with no input from me what-so-ever. I used it quite a bit in the UK and never got lost. However - I must say it was not without challenge. Garmin is hung up on North American address conventions and Europe isn't ! Many places are known by description, not by address. They have been there for a thousand years and are community landmarks. In most cases (but not always) a postal code has been assigned, but to get there in the Garmin software is frustrating to say the least. ie: an address can be "The Well Head, Upper Keith Road, Littleton, Chester, C7D 67R" The system wants a house number and street address - there isn't one, and is the town Littleton or Chester - turns out it's both. Try and get that past the software. France is even worse. While all the major roads are installed, the smaller lanes (of which there are thousands) are not all represented. It isn't as if these secondary "lanes" are new. I was at several establishments that predate the discovery of North America - still in the same buildings and on the same road - but not to be found on the maps. It shows you as being off road in many cases.

GREAT MAPPING OF UK
Pros: when it works, it works as well. Cons: does not work straight away.
We bought the Garmin microSD City Navigator Europe NT from gpscity. The item was delivered promptly and the price was good. We are currently using the map in the UK and it is working well - although for some reason it did not function when we first turned on the Nuvi 260 after arrival at London Heath Row Airport. We turned off the Nuvi for a few hours, turned it on again, and it was working properly - I have no idea what caused this problem - it was not mentioned in the instructions. Now it is working we have navigated through busy city streets and also along country roads in little villages. We hope it continues in this manner during our stay. Unfortunately we will not be traveling to Europe on this trip, so we will not be able to comment on navigation on the Continent.

WORKS WELL IN ITALY OUTSIDE ROME AIRPORT AREA
Pros: excellent accuracy and responsiveness Cons: did not work around rome airport tts very poor
I have had this card for about a month, and used it during a week long excursion via Rome airport to Puglia (Bari and south) and Umbria (north of Lazio, the county in which Rome is loated). Worked extremely well everywhere but around Rome airport, where it froze and could only tell me whether I was driving north or south. Once back on the Rome circular autoroute things were fine. I did NOT find any lag time at all as others have complained about in earlier versions. There is much road construction - mainly new roundabouts (WHEN are we going to get the far more sensible roundabout in North America)? - of course were not accounted for but usually this was easily taken into account "by eye". The card (used in the 265WT) was especially useful in Puglia where many trips down tiny roads as directed were unassailably correct in getting "fastest time" trying to "beat the GPS" always resulted in lost time. Eventually I did turn the text-to-speech off the pronunciation was abysmal (as it is here in Quebec as well with the built-in voices, even in native language) and the literal reading of the roads rarely corresponded to what is actually on the road signs. Running without text-to-speech is much better, as long as you listen and obey!

The GPS worked great with the card. *** Note for GREECE only *** The naming in Greece is a bit special : Some cities cannot be found on the GPS because of the spelling in the BUT even the naming on maps is different. We purchased a maps from Michelin and a map was provided by the rental company. There were different in the naming. If you learn to navigate manually on your GPS to find cities before you you hit the road, this will be perfect.¸

The card arrived with no documentation or instructions, which was a bit of a problem, as we weren't sure how to install it without erasing the current North America maps that are on the GPS. I have not had the opportunity to use it yet. Am planning our trip to Europe in mid May and will gladly reply to you then if you send me this request again in mid June, 2009. I am still a little concerned(purely due to my lack of electronic knowledge)whether using this card will in any way erase, or somehow damage use of the pre-installed internal North American navigator. Perhaps you could ease my mind on that. Thank you Leo Shimerl

A LIFESAVER IN SPAIN AND PORTUGAL
Pros: very detailed Cons: takes a little longer to load but worth it
Provides almost every road we came across as we drove more than 1000 km across Spain and Portugal. Even tiny one lane streets! Easy use. Just plug in the card and go! Even provides speed limits on major roads on my Nuvi 760. POIs very helpful. Most major hotels and restaurants listed. Evn used it while walking around Madrid.

RECEIVED NO DOCUMENTATION
Cons: complete lack of documentation. unusual these days
I received the card and adapter but there was no information about its installation. I paid for the 3 day delivery, and it arrived in time, so I "guess" I got what I paid for. As I can't install it yet, I am not sure...a link to a step by step PDF would be ideal, but in the absence of that, I will wait for tech support.

GREAT STORE!
I didn't use it yet. I've tried to register the product at Garmin and could not succeed. May be I did not have the good way to do it.

GARMIN MICROSD CITY NAVIGATOR EUROPE NT 2009 CARD
Pros: the card is nice and small
I thought that I had ordered a 2009 version but received a 2008 version. I haven't used in Europe yet but it does recognise addresses of places in the UK.

CALM YOUR NERVES
While driving in the Netherlands and France was always a nerve racking experience. But with the GPS the trips was a very relaxed trip not having to worry which exit to take.

EUROPE 08 CARD
Pros: it does what's its supposed too Cons: cant think of any
I went to Spain for a week and it honestly saved my life. I have a Garmin 760. Europe is full of roundabouts with a lot of highways and the streets are not named or at least the signs are missing. And without the card we would have wasted our week driving in circles. It does sometimes tell you to turn when their is no road but it just re routes you no big deal. Its without a doubt worth it to have this card in your GPS.

FRUSTRATING
Good service when you buy, but terrible when you try to return. The product worked in Scotland, but was useless in Ireland and Italy. It took us places intended for local traffic only and tried to have us make turns where there were no roads. We ended up returning our car in Italy and taking public transit! When we called to complain to GPS city, Calgary, he told us that since we had opened the product we could not return it. It was also past the 30 day return policy--I guess we were supposed to come back sooner. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and was refused. Finally he agreed to have someone call us but of course, that never happened. We did go to the store before we left Calgary, but it was closed on a Saturday. I called Garmin, where I was told that we should get some satisfaction, but they could not return our money, since we paid it to GPS city.

MICROSD CITY NAV EUROPE NT 2008
We ordered the SD card and it was delivered in 3 days - excellent service. The GPS was adequate as we travelled through the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Belgium. In most cases the GPS did not recognize the highway numbers and the highways did not recognize the street names that were programmed into the GPS system. As you might know, in Europe the roads are very compressed and you have very little time to decide which turnoff to take, so we we found the gps useless most of the time. However, 3 or 4 times were were lost and it took us back to where we were going and at this point it was extremely useful. If I was doing this trip again, I would still take the GPS with me. And I'm sure that the road signs and the GPS system in Europe will get more coordinated as times goes on.

EUROPEAN MAP
This map chip served us well as we travelled through Germany, Austria,Hungary and the Czech Republic. We had a couple of minor issues in Hungary, but the chip was able to redirect us once we arrived in a village or on a paved road. It was great for city travelling. Unfortunately, we had our GPS (with the map chip) stolen in Prague on the second last day of our holiday.
